Volunteer earns recognition Continued from Page 1 fundraising dinners and events. She also volunteers time each week to Visiting Nurse Services, making cancer pads and other items as needed. In addition, Helen volunteers weekly at her residence, St. Edward’s Retirement Village, as a guide for prospective tenants and as a sales clerk at the gift and sundry shop. She volunteers at the St. Edward Nursing Home craft room helping residents make items to pass the time, and at the Lorantffy Care Center reading to residents and helping at the annual bazaar. In her volunteer activities, Helen hasn’t forgotten the youth of Summit County. She is a member of "TWIGS,” a volunteer group at Akron Children’s Medical Center who make thousands of puppets each year for children entering the hospital. As President Vargo said in his letter of nomination, Helen "helps uplift those that need the comfort of a smile or a pleasant greeting.” It is people like Helen who helped the Association grow and prosper. "These dedicated people were always in the forefront to help the less fortunate.” The awards ceremony was attended by Helen’s proud husband, Mike Eberhardt; her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Edith Nasvadi; and Mrs. Darago. A dozen long-stemmed flowers from the Association were delivered to Helen the day of the festivities. Congratulations, Helen, and thank you for your years of service to the Summit County Hungarian community and William Penn Association.
