Continued from Page 4 worker and as someone well liked by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by all of us. On another note, we are happy to report that member Robert Kovach recently retired after 32 years of teaching in the Pottstown School District. We send him our best wishes for a happy retirement. Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Vincent Frank Branch 800 President The branch’s annual corn boil and wiener roast for members and their families was another successful event. We wish to thank the chairman, co-chairman and all those who helped in any way to make this affair so enjoyable. The weather could not have been more beautiful, and the food was very appetizing. If you were not there, you missed a fine social event. Father Kenneth Greiner gave the invocation and later entertained us with his two musical instruments. It was also great to see members who brought their children and grandchildren. Vice President Leroy Douglas has already reserved the date for next year’s corn boil with the park. The ladies auxiliary resumed their monthly meetings following a summer recess. The auxiliary meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. All auxiliary members are encouraged to attend and help plan upcoming events. John and Irene Stoltz recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at Sacred Heart Manor in Altoona, where they reside. They had an open house on the patio of the manor in their honor. John has been a member of our society for 63 years. He was past president of the former Branch 231 at St. Leo’s Church in Altoona. We send our best wishes to John and Irene. Congratulations also go to all those who will be celebrating their birthday or wedding anniversary in October. Please remember in your prayers all our brother and sister members who are sick at home, in hospitals or nursing homes. We hope all get well soon. Branch 805 7 Verona, PA By Mary Dialoiso Branch 8057 President Members of Branch 8057 met Sept.-9 at the William McKindley Senior Citizens Center on 7th Street in Penn Hills. Everyone enjoyed the barbecue chicken, lemon cake and a variety of dips and salads. At our next meeting on Oct. 14 at the Center, we will have lunch, a business meeting, and a funny hat social for Halloween. We would like to welcome new members Betty and Evan. We invite all our members to join us for a trip to Blair’s in Warren, Pa., on Oct. 24. Happy birthday wishes to all those recently celebrating their special day. We also wish speedy recoveries to all those who have been ill. We also hope everyone had a nice summer filled with happy memories. After lunch there was a short program with gifts for Father. Father Damien was pastor of St. Marys Church for 20 years and our branch’s spiritual advisor and friend. We will certainly miss him.
