You are cordially invited to attend. Our branch delivered holiday baskets to four needy families on Dec. 22. It sure makes you feel special and thankful for everything you have when you help someone like this. Our Champagne Ball will be held on Feb. 9. Music will be provided by the Octaves. Please contact manager Szatmári for reservations. I have some bowling news I can’t wait to share with you. Vi Pasko bowled her first-ever 203 game on Dec. 16. Congratulations, Vi! Les Pasko, not to be outdone, also bowled 203 in the same game. Vi also bowled her first 517 series. They must have eaten their Wheaties. On the same day, John Molnár bowled a triplicate 197, and Andy Chesley bowled a triplicate 161. Must be something in the air. Now, for those bowling Baylins, Judy and Mike. Judy holds first place for ladies with a 241 game, and Mike holds first place for men with a whopping 277. In that game he bowled nine strikes in a row. Remember how you did that, Mike, and do it again in May in Pittsburgh for $10,000.00. Thank you to manager Szatmári and his excellent staff for making our New Year’s Eve celebration great again. The food and service were super. We hope everyone has a happy and healthy winter. Think spring and bowling tournament. All Branch 8 members are welcome. After the installation of officers, the branch held its annual family Christmas party. The children and their parents were greeted as they arrived by Steve Petruska. In exchange for their invitations, the children received gifts of money, carol books and coloring books. Each family also received a 1991 William Penn Association calendar; To the sound of ringing bells, Santa Claus arrived, greeting the children and adults with his merry and cheery "Ho! Ho! Ho!” Santa held each child by our beautiful Christmas tree as each whispered into his ear what he or she wanted for Christmas. As the children and parents enjoyed the wonderful food and refreshments and conversed with one another, Santa suddenly disappeared. Santa was truly enjoyed by all. The officers of Branch 8 wish to thank the Board of Directors for its generous allocation to our party. We also wish to thank the Home Office staff for getting the invitations, stickers, carol and coloring books and calendars here on time. We at Branch 8 tried our best to show these lovely children and their parents that the William Penn Association really believes in their future and is trying to do more for them. Our officers and members extend to all our best wishes for a prosperous and happy 1991. Branch 15 Chicago, IL By Eva Laczina Branch 15 Reporter On Dec. 16,1990, William Penn Branch 15 in Chicago held its spectacular annual Christmas party at St. Stephan King of Hungary Church. As everyone hurried downstairs after mass, the Hungarian scout group was preparing to perform a wonderful Christmas play. After the scouts’ outstanding presentation, the church’s children added to the fun by performing another fabulous Christmas play. When both performances were done, the lights gradually dimmed and a hush fell among us. Then, all of a sudden, from the rear of the church hall, Santa Claus came in. The children were awe-struck as Santa made his merry way to the stage. Without further delay, he began calling each boy and girl by name and gave gifts to each of them as they came up to the stage. Once all the gifts were passed out, Santa wished everyone a very Merry Christmas and exited in the same gay fashion as he entered. After Santa’s departure, our scrumptious edibles were ready. There were plenty of bisquits, Hungarian sausages and sweet goodies, all of which were prepared by our hard-working ladies. The pleasant mood of the day continued as everyone talked good-naturedly with each other, took an array of pictures and mingled with old friends. We would like to express our sincere and heart-felt thanks to all of the officers at the Home Office for helping to make this fabulous Christmas party possible. Our gratitude and great appreciation goes to all who participated so diligently in helping to make our party a true success. Finally, we would like to thank everyone who joined us at our party to celebrate this wonderful holiday. We hope our next big event, our Red Egg (Easter) Ball, will be as exciting. All of our branch members are welcome to join in and celebrate. From all of us at Branch 15, we wish everyone a joyful and prosperous 1991. Branch 16 Perth Amboy, NJ Branch 16 held its annual family Christmas party Dec. 1, 1990, with a total of 47 children in attendance. The children seemed to thoroughly enjoy a surprise visit by Mickey Mouse, and everyone enjoyed the delicious lunch served. After lunch, the children were entertained by Ube the Clown who enlisted the help of the children in his magic act. He also made a balloon animal for each child. Later on, as we all sang carols, Santa arrived and distributed gifts to all the children. We thank all those who helped to make our party a success, in particular Michaelene and George Mirkovich, Ann and Michael Hrabar, Mary and Stephen Mészáros, Annette and Michael David and Melissa, Meagan and Monica Mirkovich. We also thank the Home Office for its allotment which helped make this party possible. Branch 18 Detroit, MI By Barbara Ann House Branch 18 Secretary Happy Valentine’s Day! Time sure is marching on.
