Branch 336 sponsored the display of this Hungarian Christmas tree at an exhibition of ethnic Christmas trees held this past holiday season at the Strawberry Square shopping center located in Harrisburg, Pa. These young members of William Penn Branch 249 eagerly await the arrival of Santa Claus at the branch’s family Christmas party. We were also proud to sponsor a traditional Hungarian Christ­mas tree which was displayed as part of an exhibit of international trees at Strawberry Square in downtown Harrisburg. Branch 296 Springdale, PA By Ron Balia Branch 296 President Branch 296 held its annual elec­tion of officers on Dec. 13. All officers, headed by Branch Presi­dent Ron Balia, were reelected unanimously. Mr. Elmer Charles conducted the election of offi­cers. After the meeting a buffet luncheon was served. The annual Christmas party was held on Dec. 16 at the United Church of Christ. In spite of the inclement weather, we had a very nice party. Children enjoyed the magician and the group singing. Santa arrived and treats were distributed. A buffet luncheon followed and everyone had a good time. We thank all those attending and, most of all, all those who helped make the party a success. Branch 336 Harrisburg, PA By Zita Prowse Branch 336 Trustee We held our annual family Christ­mas party on Dec. 10. The chil­dren were entertained by the Harrisburg Chapter of Zembo Shrine clowns. Santa made a spe­cial visit and distributed gifts and stockings stuffed with goodies to all the boys and girls. The annual adult Christmas party was held on Dec. 17, and it was a huge success this year with Branch 352 Coraopolis, PA By Dianne A. Charles Branch 352 Reporter Branch 352 held its family Christ­mas party and annual meeting on Dec. 9. Guests were greeted by Nation­al Director and Branch Coordi­nator Elmer Furedy, National Treasurer and Branch Secretary Frances Furedy, Branch President George Charles Jr., and Branch Vice President Jim Deak. President Charles extended Christmas greetings to everyone in attendance. Our appreciation to Chairman of the Board Joseph P. Arvay and National Secretary E. E. Vargo and his wife Betty for attending our party. The children, both young and old, were entertained with movies, magic by Bill Averman, a sing-along and, of course, Santa. Each child had an opportunity to talk with Santa. He delighted each of them with candy, coloring books and gifts. Food and a large assortment of cookies and cakes were enjoyed by the children and adults alike. A special thanks to all branch members who donated their time and love in making our party a great success, and to the Board of Directors, National Officers and Home Office employees for their time and party allotment. Immediately following the Christmas party, we held our annual election of officers. We are happy to report that our Continued on Page 12 faithfully for 20 years as presi­dent, retiring in January 1989. Upon his retirement, the title of president emeritus was bestowed upon him as a token of appreci­ation for his many years of de­voted service. We extend our sincere condol­ences to his wife Mary, his son Louis and their entire families. May God grant him eternal rest. To all our members who are currently in the hospital, and to those who were recently released, we wish you and our entire mem­bership an abundance of good health during this new decade. Our annual family Christmas party was a big success. The kids delighted in the magic of the magician. Readers of this column are encouraged to enroll their children and grandchildren in one of our life insurance plans so that they can partake in this annual event. Our recent fish fry held on Jan. 19 was very well attended and provided a good time for all. Plans are being formulated to make this a twice-a-year event. Special thanks go out to Mrs. Wanda Rutledge and Mr. and Mrs. John Merker for their fore­sightedness in preparing their grandchildren for their future, by enrolling them in our William Penn Association with paid-up life policies. The future of our Association is dedicated to our juvenile mem­bers. We appreciate the continu­ance of the 2-for-l juvenile term plan among our products. A young member of Branch 336 receives a special Christmas present from Santa Claus during the branch’s annual family Christmas party. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA By Alexander J. Goydan Branch 226 Coordinator The Branch 226 Christmas party was held Dec. 17 at St. Stephen’s Social Hall. More than 100 chil­dren and adults attended and enjoyed the Sadesky Puppets Christmas show. Santa Claus passed out bags of treats with help from Branch Treasurer Vio­­let Lenart and Coordinator and Secretary Alexander J. Goydan. Christmas carols and songs from the William Penn Christ­mas books were sung by the children and adults. Tbe singing was led by Vice President Ed Rietski and William Markowsky. We were accompanied by Helen Stipkovits on the piano. A buffet lunch was served and enjoyed by all. Joining Mr. Goydan, Mr. Riet­ski and Ms. Lenart on the party committee were President John Sabo and Auditors Bette Hoff­man and Helen Domencic. Assist­ing the officers were Margaret Linderman, Irene Grebur and Anna Mae Rietski. Door prizes donated by the branch officers were given to the adults in attendance. We were honored by the pres­ence of National President Ste­phen G. Danko and National Vice President Zoltán B. Emri. They greeted our guests and en­joyed meeting with our members and children. Before the party, the election of Branch 226 officers was held and all present officers were un­animously reelected to serve in 1990. Our congratulations to Branch 226 member Vincent Liberty who rolled a high game score of 290 at White Oak Bowl to receive the BP AGP Low Average Award. Vince’s high game was the third in a 699 series. He also bowled scores of206 and 203. He carries a 169 average. Last June, Vince won the Iron City Doubles Classic with a 777 series. Branch 249 Dayton, OH By Albert G. Kertesz Branch 249 Vice President We were saddened by the death of one of the oldest and most active members of our branch, Branch President Emeritus John Motko. He passed away after a short illness on Dec. 14, at age 92. Mr. Motko served our branch
