Branch 226 McKeesport, PA By Alexander J. Goydan Branch 226 Coordinator & Secretary The annual election of branch officers was held Dec. 17 in the social hall of St. Stephen’s Church. Elected as officers for 1989 were: John Sabo, president; Edward Rietski, vice president; Alexander J. Goydan, secretary; Violet B. Lenart, treasurer; and Bette J. Hoffman and Frank Domencic, auditors. Our family Christmas party was held on Dec. 10 at St. Stephen’s hall. The party was scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m., but early arrivals found a brightly decorated hall to really enhance the spirit of Christmas. Soon all the guests arrived and the program was opened by President Sabo who welcomed all in attendance. His remarks were followed by the singing of carols, led by a great group of children and accompanied by our own Helen Stipkovits. Everyone joined in the singing, getting caught up in the true Christmas spirit. Entertainment was provided by magician/clown Michelle Jaszkowski, who received enthusiastic participation from all the children. The highlight of the afternoon came with the arrival of Santa Claus (John Tusai) who entered the hall with a great "Ho! Ho! Ho!” to the delight of all. He listened to the Christmas wishes of all the children and gave each a gift. The party committee — John Sabo, Edward Rietski, Alex Goydan, Violet Lenart, Bette Hoffman, Louis Siebert, Annamae Rietski, Anthony Brusco, Helen and Frank Domencic, Irene Grebur and Margaret Linderman — are to be commended for their efforts and hard work in organizing another great family Christmas party. We were most pleased to have National Secretary and Mrs. E. E. Vargo and National Treasurer Frances A. Furedy present to celebrate this occasion with us. Also present was a special guest — Mr. Vargo’s mother — whom we were so happy to meet.
