Page 12, William Penn Life, May 1987 President Banes feted PITTSBURGH — As of press time, plans were being finalized for the 1987 Fratemalist of the Year Banquet honoring National President Gay B. Banes. President Banes is the twelfth recipient of the award present­ed annually by the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh. The award is given to the fratemalist who has disting­uished himself through service to his society, community and mankind. The banquet and reception were to be held April 25 at the Sheraton Station Square hotel on the South Side of Pitts­burgh. Banquet organizers said that 160 people were to attend the dinner, which was to feature live music and a performance by a local dance group. Among those scheduled to attend the banquet were the National Officers, members of the Board of Directors, Advi­sory Board and Auditing Com­mittee and the Home Office staff. The FSGP represents 40 soc­ieties and 500,000 fratemalists. A full report on the banquet will appear next month. Agencies undergo changes PITTSBURGH — National Sales Director Daniel R. Wahl, FIC CLU, recently announced chan­ges in the Association’s Sales Department affecting the Boston and Florida areas. Boston Agency Manager Fred Aronne retired as of Feb. 6. Brian Aronne will be selling in and serving the Boston area as a gen­eral agent. The Boston office address will remain P.O. Box 574, Dedham, Mass. 02026. The phone number there is (617) 326-8949. Mr. Wahl also announced that sales representative Stanley Tol­­kin has moved from Florida to New York. Any business that was sold by Mr. Tolkin in Florida will be serviced now by Ron Abels, FICF, manager of the Orlando, Fla., agency.The phone number is (305) 876-5059. May declared TIC Month* PITTSBURGH — The month of May has been designated as Frat­ernal Insurance Counsellors (FIC) Month by the National Fraternal Congress of America. The observance of a special FIC month honors the contribu­tions made by fraternal insurance counsellors towards strengthen­ing the fraternal benefit system and maintaining high ethical stan­dards in the profession. We at the William Penn are proud our officers, employees and sales representatives who have earned, or are currently working towards earning, this distinguished designation. FICs continuously strive to in­crease their knowledge concern­ing legal reserve life insurance, to render better service to members of their societies and to develop more successful sales methods. Through the National Associ­ation of Fraternal Insurance Counsellors and its state chapters, FICs have the opportunity to exchange ideas among leading fra­ternal field representatives. They also endeavor to share their experience and knowledge of fraternal life underwriting with all such field representatives. The Home Office staff in April bid farewell to two of their col­leagues, Barbara Kerékgyártó and Beverly Shoup. Barbara, who handled cash sur­renders and changes of benefici­aries, left the office April 15. She and her husband George have returned to their homeland, Hungary. Beverly, secretary to Executive Vice President John F. Kenawell, retired April 3. She and her hus­band Harold, who also recently retired, plan to travel around the United States. Shirley Kinney joined the staff April 3 as secretary to Executive Vice President John F. Kenawell. Shirley is a member of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh and enjoys tennis and golf. Linda Units began her duties as a part-time employee on April 6. She enjoys spending her spare time with her family. We welcome Shirley and Linda to our Home Office family.
