While the renovations will _ make life at the Home more comfortable, life here was made more enjoyable for the residents with the acquisition of new entertainment equipment. A new juke box, containing 200 recorded selections, was installed in one of the recreation areas in early February. The juke box was donated by John Hoffman, a resident of the home and an American veteran. A new 25" color television with remote control was purchased Feb. 18 throught the assistance of Branch 8020, McKees Rocks. Also, a new video cassette recorder was purchased Feb. 19 for the residents through the assistance of Branch 8330, Baltimore. The new VCR and TV will be used to show movies to assist in ~ the arts and crafts activities. Earlier this year, the Home installed a new medial charting system which will increase the effeciency and effectiveness of the nursing staff. The administration of the Knights of St. George Home is eager to complete these necessary renovations in order to utilize our Home to its fullest capacity. Bob Wilt, maintenance department chief at Mount St. George in Wellsburg, W.Va., inspects parts of the neu sprinkler system recently installed at the Knights of St. George Home. The system is just part of ongoing renovations at the Home. Date set for annual Mt. St. George festival PITTSBURGH — Believe it or not, summer is just around the corner. That means the time is drawing near for the William Penn’s annual Mount St. George Festival. This year’s festival will be held on Sunday, Aug. 9. This is the 65th year the Association will sponsor the annual outing at its 530-acre facility in Wellsburg, W.Va. Preliminary plans for the festival include the traditional outdoor Mass, numerous games of chance, special children’s games, tours of the Knights of St. George Home, live entertainment, ethnic and American food, and many other fun activities. Branches interested in sponsoring booths or activities are urged to start making their plans as soon as possible. All proceeds from the festival will benefit the Knights of St. George Home for the Elderly. Home seeks funds for cable WELLSBURG, WV — The Knights of St. George Home has begun efforts to raise funds for cable television hook-up for the residents’ television. "Our residents can receive only two channels now on their TV,” said Home Administrator Paul T. Kovács. Many of the Home’s residents rely on the television as a major source of entertainment. The poor reception is due to the Home’s location in the rolling hills of the West Virginia panhandle. The Home recently acquired a video cassette recorder for the residents, in part to help provide more entertainment options for residents. "The VCR will help fill in until the cable arrives,” Mr. Kovács said. Those interested in helping the Home acquire cable-TV hookup can write Paul T. Kovács, Administrator, Knights of St. George Home, Mount St. George, R.D. 3, Wellsburg, W.Va. 26070, or call (304) 737-0851.
