Page 14, William Penn Life, December 1987 Minutes of the 31st General Convention of the William Penn Association held September 14-15-16,1987, in Toronto, Canada Continued from previous page in the By-Laws adopted at this convention, to renumber Articles, Sections and sub-paragraphs in codifying the same so as to place them in proper order but without changing the context, intent and purposes thereof. 200th Anniversary of the U.S. Constitution/Resolution -It was moved, seconded and the delegates adopted the following resolution pertaining to the 200th Anniversary of the United States Constitution. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention in regular session resolves that as we celebrate the Bicentennial of the adoption of the Constitution of the United States, we give thanks to Almighty God for preserving our nation and assuring us of our religious and personal freedom. Deceased Members/Resolution -It was moved, seconded and the delegates adopted the following resolution. The 31st General Convention in regular session extends thanks and appreciation to all those conducting the Memorial Service as our final tribute to our deceased members. May they rest in peace. Mileage/Delegates -It was moved, seconded and the delegates adopted the following resolution. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention resolves that each of the elected delegates and ex-officio delegates be entitled to 30 cents per mile travel expense from his permanent place of residence to Toronto and return. Travel Expense -It was moved, seconded and the delegates adopted the following resolution pertaining to travel expenses. _____ RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention in regular session resolves that National and Appointed Officers, Directors and Auditing Committee Members, and authorized persons on official business, shall be allowed 30 cents per mile or actual travel expenses from their permanent place of residence, whichever is greater, while traveling on the business of the Society. Delegates/Convention Honorarium -It was moved, seconded and the delegates authorized the following resolution pertaining to Convention honorarium. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention hereby resolves that regardless of the number of days the General Convention be in session, the honorarium for each of the elected delegates and ex-officio delegates present at this Convention shall be established at $1,500.00. Travel Per Diem -It was moved, seconded and the 31st General Convention adopted that each of the elected and ex-officio delegates be entitled to two (2) travel per diems at $200.00 per day. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention hereby resolves that each of the elected delegates and ex-officio delegates be entitled to two (2) travel per diems at $200.00 per day. Official Per Diems/Next Four Years -It was moved, seconded and the Convention delegates adopted the following resolution pertaining to travel per diems. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention in regular session resolves that for the ensuing four year term the official per diem shall be $200.00 per day. In addition, those on official business for the Association shall be entitled to $200.00 per day travel per diem for those travelling 100 miles of more, one way, from permanent place of residence to Pittsburgh and $200.00 for return from Pittsburgh to residence. For those travelling less than 100 miles one way, they shall be entitled to $100.00 per day travel per diem coming to Pittsburgh and $100.00 per day returning home. Honorarium for Directors & Auditing Committee -It was moved, seconded and the delegates adopted that the 31 st General Convention in regular session resolves that the honorarium of Directors and Auditing Committee Members be $5,000.00 per annum. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention in regular session resolves that the honorarium of Directors and Auditing Committee Members be $5,000.00 per annum. Honorarium for Advisory Board -It was moved, seconded and the delegates adopted that the 31 st General Convention in regular session resolves that the honorarium for Advisory Board Members shall be $2,500.00 per annum. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention in regular session resolves that the honorarium for Advisory Board Members shall be $2,500.00 per annum. Committee Honorarium -It was moved, seconded and the delegates adopted that the 31 st General Convention in regular session resolves that all members of the Election/Tellers Committee, Resolutions Committee, Credentials Committee, and Sergeant-At-Arms each receive $200.00 for their services at the Convention. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention in regular session resolves that members of all committees, Resolutions, Credentials, Election/Tellers, Sergeant-At- Arms, receive an honorarium of $200.00 each for their services at the Convention. Honorarium Authorized -It was moved, seconded and the 31st General Convention in regular session authorized that the Chairman of the Convention, Vice Chairman of the Convention, Secretary of the Convention, National President, National Secretary and National Treasurer each receive $1,000.00 for their services at the Convention. RESOLUTION The 31st General Convention in regular session resolves that the Chairman of the Convention, Vice Chairman of the Convention, Secretary of the Convention, National President, National Secretary and National Treasurer each receive $1,000.00 for their work at the Convention. Supporting the Scholarship Foundation - The next order of business was for the Good of the Order. Director Stephen J. Ivancso, President of the William Penn Scholarship Foundation, appealed to the Convention delegates to support the Scholarship Foundation. He stated that the Scholarship Foundation is the greatest fraternal activity in the Association and it is aiding our children in obtaining a higher education. The Convention delegates, Board of Directors, National Officers, Auditing Committee members, Advisory Board members, branches and guests truly opened their hearts and pledged in excess of $26,500 to the Scholarship Foundation. Thank You/National President Danko - National President Stephen G. Danko thanked the delegates for attending the 31st General Convention of the William Penn Association. He thanked them for their fine attention and cooperation during the meetings. He thanked everyone who attended the banquet and for the courtesy and attention afforded the speakers who participated. President Danko thanked the Board of Directors, Auditing Committee, National Officers, Advisory Board members and the Home Office staff for all the fine work and cooperation he received during the past four years. On behalf of all the Directors, National Officers, Auditing Committee and Advisory Board, President Danko wished everyone a pleasant and safe journey to their home. Kohut Addresses Convention - William Kohut addressed the Convention delegates and thanked the delegates and his many, many friends for all the cooperation and support he has received over the many years that he has worked and been associated with the William Penn Association. In accordance with the By-Laws, Mr. Kohut is now retiring from the Board of Directors. He stated he has enjoyed every minute of his activity and will continue to serve the Association in whatever capacity they see fit. He wished everyone God speed and a safe journey home. Auditing Committee Officers - Chairman Lesko reported that the Auditing Committee has met and elected the following officers of the Auditing Committee: Louis Fodor - Chairman Michael Kara - Vice Chairman William Kovach - Secretary Thank You/Chairman Lesko - Chairman of the Convention John T. Lesko thanked the Convention delegates for their fine cooperation during the Convention. He wished them all well and a safe journey to their homes. Benediction/Rev. Borsay - The Rev.
