Invocation/Rev. Borsay - The invocation was offered by the Rev. Daniel Borsay, pastor of the United Church of Christ, Springdale, Pa.: Almighty God, Our Light and Our Salvation! We draw near unto you, remembering your love and your mercy. Thou art in heaven and we are on earth. You are perfect in goodness, infinite in love, all-knowing in your wisdom. We are but sinners in a broken world striving to be better, trying to fulfill our calling to prove worthy of the name granted to us through our relationships to your Son, who gave his life for us and who even now calls us to remember Him and to follow where He may lead. In this world and at this place, we pray for the William Penn Association, a human institution, composed of men and women who strive to do something good in this world and for this world. We give you thanks for these efforts. We give you thanks for the long life of this Association for the good it has achieved, for the benefits it has given, for all the happiness it has brought. For our shortcomings and failures, for the inescapable sins that cast shadows in all human endeavors, we ask your forgiveness, trusting in your kindness and mercy. We also thank you for the heritage we have received, the strengths and advantages of which it now falls upon us to preserve and cherish. We pray for the many members of this Association, asking you to keep them in your care. Grant peace to all who suffer and struggle with illness. We especially remember our dear brother, John Balia. We thank you for his successful operation and ask that you grant him a full recovery bringing him back among us whole. We also pray for Steve Gall, Jr., asking that you be with him, comforting him and granting him your peace. We now ask your blessing upon the work of this convention, may it reflect the fruits of spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, humility and self-control.
