Page 4, November-December 1986, William Perm Life Golf Set For July 11 Unless you live in or plan to visit the South or Far West, you have pro­bably put your golf clubs in storage for the winter months. But, even if you will not be teeing off for a while, you should grab a 1987 calendar and a pencil and circle the date July 11. That is the date for the William Penn Association Fourth Annual National Golf Tournament. The 1987 golf tourna­ment will be played at the Raisin River Golf Club in Southgate, Mich. Head­quarters for the tourna­ment and banquet will be the Presidential Inn in Monroe, Mich., 20 minutes from the golf course. Start making your plans to attend now and watch for further details on the tournament in future issues of the William Penn Life. Branch 34 Marks WPA Centennial National Secretary E.E. (Photo by Louis Fodor) PITTSBURGH, PA-About 200 Association members and friends gathered Nov. 16 at St. Ann’s Church Social Hall fora dinner celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the William Penn and the 82nd Anniver­sary of Branch 34. The informal atmosphere of the social hall seemed to make it easy for all the guests to get into a festive mood. Guests were welcomed by Branch Vice President Robert Kapinus. The audience was then led in the singing of the National Anthem and Magyar Himnusz by branch member Helen Stipkovics. After the invocation was de­livered by Father Paul Bovary, pastor of St. Ann’s Church, everyone sat down to a deli­cious "Disznótoros Vacsora,” or special pork cuts dinner. The meal was prepared by members of the branch and Rosary Society of the church. Stelkovics, the evening’s toast­master, introduced the Offi­cial Family members and honored guests in attendance. The dinner also featured the presentation of 50-year mem­bership pins to eight branch members. Those members were Steve Bocskoris, Andrew Fekete, Andrew Kapinus, Ann Kapinus, Emma Kepes, An­thony Nagy, William Paranay and Berta Rodgers. The pins were presented by National Secretary E.E. Vargo and Executive Vice President John F. Kenawell. At the end of the program Branch President Michael Kara thanked those who attend­ed the banquet and made it such a special event. He also encouraged guest to “support all our leaders in our next and more vital century of Hungar­ian Fraternalism.” Hungary Tour Dates Picked The William Penn Associa­tion has announced that it will sponsor a tour to Hungary June 18 to July 2, 1987. The Association has been sponsoring annual tours to Hungary since 1976. The tour has gained in popularity with each succeeding year. However, the Association reluctantly withdrew its spon­sorship of *he 1986 tour after many persons cancelled their reservations. The cancella­tions followed the nuclear accident at Chernobyl and several terrorist attacks in Europe that summer. Further information on the 1987 tour will be published in future issues of the William Penn Life as it becomes available. Investing In The WPA PITTSBURGH, PA — The members of Branch 18, Detroit, the Asso­ciation's largest branch, have always invested their time and effort on behalf of the William Penn. Recently, they invested 5100,000 in a William Penn annuity. The funds were raised through devoted efforts at the branch home and numerous fraternal and social activities. Toledo Prepares For WPA Bowlers By Mary Ivancso Branch 27 Coordinator TOLEDO, OH—The William Penn Association National Of­ficers, Board of Directors and Branch 27, Toledo, invite you, your family and friends to the 44th Annual National Bowling Tournament to be held here on Memorial Day Weekend, May 22-24, 1987. Tournament headquarters will be the new Hotel Sofitel in downtown Toledo. Room rates are $55 a night, single or double occupancy. The bowling competition will be held at the Imperial Lanes, located at 5505 West Central Ave., Toledo. Bowling will begin Saturday morning, May 23, for team events and continue Sunday with singles and doubles competition. Bus transportation will be provided for the ride between the hotel and bowling lanes. The annual meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Asso­ciation Scholarship Founda­tion will be held on Friday, May 22, at the Hotel Sofitel. The hotel’s grand ballroom has been reserved for the tour­nament banquet on Saturday evening. There will be enter­tainment and music for dancing. Those planning to attend the banquet are urged to make their reservations as soon as possible as seating will be limited. The members of Branch 27 suggest that all those attend­ing the tournament make an effort to visit Toledo's many places of interest, including Portside, T ony Packo’s restau­rant and St. Stephen’s Church. Visitors can also take a boat ride on the Princess Arawana down the Maumee River. Branch 27 members are needed to help plan and volun­teer at tournament functions. Those wishing to help out can call Branch Coordinator Mary Ivancso at (419) 691-9641. Future issues of the William Penn Life will publish addition­al information on the tourna­ment as it become available. Toth Finishes First In Sales Contest National Director Elmer Toth recently was named the winner of the Under 21 Sales Contest. The contest chal­lenged all full- and part-time William Penn agents to sell as many of the Centennial Juv­enile policies as possible. Mr. Toth, a part-time agent, led the field with 44 sales, six more than second-place fin­isher Alex Hody. For his ef­forts, Mr. Toth was awarded a 13-inch color television. As of Nov. 14, Mr. Toth remained among the leaders in the Association’s sales force. He ranked second in total number of sales and fifth in sales volume. He began serving the Asso­ciation in 1954 as a district manager. He later served as a branch president, branch secretary-treasurer and branch coordinator. Mr. Toth has been named Agent of the Month three times this year and has qualified for the 1987 National Sales Con­ference in Toronto, Canada.
