About 400 people attended the third annual show which raised more than $3,900 for the church, located in Solon, Ohio. Goldie Simon, a long-time member of Branch 14, served as the event’s chairwoman. Entitled “Somewhere in Time,” the fashion show featured clothing styles dating as far back as 1879. The vintage outfits were furnished by the Solon Historical Society. Ilona Durejko, Mrs. Simon’s daughter, modeled her grandmother’s wedding gown made in 1919. She also modeled a “Roaring Twenties” fringe dress, complete with a scarf originally worn in 1912 by Mary Grossman, the first female judge in America. The star of the show, however, was former Branch 14 member Mary Karnya. Mrs. Karnbya flew from California to model her 1908 Lillian Russell “Gay Nineties” gown. The show also featured modern fashions, furnished by Carol Ann Fashions, and children’s wear, provided by Burlington Coat Factory warehouse. Branch members who served on the fashion show committee were Irene Boros, Mary Myers, Mrs. Simon and Margaret Toth.
