William J. Haberstroh Installed as District Attorney of Blair County, PA William J. Haberstroh William J. Haberstroh is a National Director of the William Penn Association. He is also the newly installed District Attorney of Blair County in Pennsylvania. His tenure as a National Director has been one of perseverance and dedication to the high principles which have made our Association a leader in the industry throughout the United States. As district attorney, he will use the same acumen to bring to that office a measure of professionalism certain to benefit the electorate of the county. National Officers Gay B. Banes and his wife, Helene, and William C. Kohut and his wife, Helene, and National Executive Vice-President John F. Kenawell and his wife, Linda, attended the auspicious swearing-in ceremonies when Mr. Haberstroh assumed his new responsibilities. They later attended a luncheon at Gullifty’s Restaurant in Altoona where close friends and associates joined to offer their congratulations on this new milestone in Mr. Haberstroh’s life. His rise to success in the political arena was motivated by a strong desire to make the office more responsive to the police and the community and sees the need of streamlining the operations of the office through the installation of a computer system. Mr. Haberstroh will insist that cases treating with juveniles not be regarded as “second class matters.” His logic is that if juveniles who commit crimes are properly dealt with when they are young, maybe the DA’s office won’t have to prosecute them when they become adults. Whatever the problems of his office, Mr. Haberstroh says he wants to sit down and talk about them with the appropriate county and municipal officials. And that is a key to his philosophy. Ultimately he wants to establish a solid foundation in the DA’s office, something the next DA can build upon. Another featured attraction of Pittsburgh will be going on this same weekend. This is the 30th Annual Folk Festival and is held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, which is also within walking distance of the Hotel. Ethnic foods, dancing and heritage displays from at least 21 countries will be featured. There is always fun and entertainment for all at this event. The Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, May 23 and Mr. Haberstroh and his wife, the former Sue A. Miller, are the parents of three children, Lisa, Joseph and Robert, and reside in Hollidaysburg, PA. The William Penn Association is justifiably proud to have in its ranks a man of Mr. Haberstroh’s wisdom and one whose principles will benefit all those with whom he comes in contact. 24, from 4:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. and Sunday, May 25, 1986 from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m. We are planning an outstanding 100th Anniversary Bowling Tournament which should be the biggest and best we have ever had.
