BRANCH 51 Passaic, NJ By Ernest Mozer , Branch Coordinator Prior to the annual Christmas party of Branch 51, the annual election of officers was conducted and Arthur Barillo was elected president. Other branch officers include Joseph Baumgartner, vice-president; Frank Zimmerman, treasurer; Ernest J. Mozer, secretary; and Sándor Lakatos and Andrew Nemeth, auditors. The annual Christmas party was held at the American- Hungarian Citizens Club in Garfield and featured Bob Conrad with his magic, ventriloquism and puppets. The children were spellbound by his performance and many of them participated in his acts. A special thank you is extended to Santa Claus (Frank Zimmermann) who thrilled the children with his “Ho-Ho- Ho’s” and his presentation of gifts. The photos shown attest to the happiness of the occasion. Left to right: Bob Segal, special agent; Ernest J. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA by Violet B. Lenart Election of officers, Branch 226, took place on December 14, at a meeting held in the Social Hall of St. Stephen’s Church on Beacon Street. All officers were unanimously reelected and will serve in 1986. They include President, Louis L. Siebert; Vice President, Edward M. Rietski; Secretary, Barbara B. Botkin; Treasurer, Violet B. Lenart, and Auditors, Bette J. Hoffman, and Ethel H. Sabo. The annual family Christmas party was held on December 15, in the Social Hall of St. Stephen’s Church. The officers of the Branch served as the committee in charge of all arrangements for the party and they really put forth their best efforts in making this a very successful event. The guests — children and adults — began to arrive at 1 p.m., and by 1:30 p.m. the brightly decorated tables were filled with excited children, parents, and grandparents. Following liquid refreshments for the adults and orange drinks and cokes for the children, pretzels and potato chips, the program was opened by Branch Coordinator Barbara Botkin, who introduced the officers present as well as guests from the Home Office. Then our main attraction, Chi Chi the Clown Magician was presented, who, to the delight of children and adults alike, entertained with magic tricks and stories, with the participation of the children. He also presented various forms of animals, twisted from long balloons, to each child and adult present. The children really enjoyed the program. After the singing of Christmas carols, Santa Claus arrived with an enthusiastic Ho-Ho-Ho. Children lined up to visit with Santa and received gifts of candy and money. All present thert enjoyed a delicious buffet luncheon. As with all good things, the party reached its end, and after many “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year” wishes, with hugs and kisses, our guests departed. The success of the party was due to the untiring efforts of our Committee and helpers — Santa Claus, Louis Siebert, Edward and Anna-Mae Rietski, Violet Lenart, Barbara Botkin, Ethel and John Sabo, Helene and Gay Banes, Margaret Panko, Sophie Shusner, Bette Hoffman, Alexander Goydan, Helen and Frank Dornende. Our heartfelt thanks for a job well done. Our deep appreciation is extended to the Home Office for its financial support, not only for the family Christmas parties, but for all Branch activities.
