Abels Holds Seminar WELLSBURG, WV — Members of the William Penn Association sales force recently attended a four day training seminar in Wellsburg, conducted by Ron Abels, FICF, the national sales director. The session covered a variety of topics and the primary purpose was the extension of the continual training of the various sales representatives to better serve those who are members of the Association. In reflecting on the session, Abels noted, “I know that attendance at these events is something of a sacrifice on the part of the sales representatives, but their participation reflects a total dedication to the principles of the Association and this results in greater growth potential for the William Penn and its thousands of members who benefit through their memberships.” Those in attendance at the session were Dawn Ward, Jeff Ward, CLU-CFC; Alice Starnes, Sue Gleason, Jodene Pascarella, Mike White, Brian Aronne, Angela Korniczky, Alex Hody, Bill Kovach, Floyd Bryan, Martha Konelesky, Dan Wahl, FIC; Joe Barreiro, FIC; Sam Sulkosky, Steve Drotar, Dominic LaVerde, Lou Fodor and Rick Jennings.________ Kids Enjoy Egg Hunt By Lou Jesso Branch 150 MASONTOWN, PA - An Easter egg hunt was sponsored by the branch for children under age 12 at the popular PAL’S Club hojne. To create a nose and permanently attach it to her face was no easy task. Vecchione, who has done most of the surgery, said if he would have put an adult’s nose on her face, she would have looked just as grotesque as she would with just two holes in her face. Her nose was changed 19 times until finally, at 18-years-ofage, it is the nose that she will have for the rest of her life. Vecchione said Dolores’ first nose was a glob of “mashed potatoes.” The plastic surgeon used an ancient surgical techniques handed down by the doctors of India where a flap from the center of the girls’ forehead was pulled over the spot where the nose would be. Vecchione said the match of the color and texture of the skin and muscles taken from the face are much better than tissue taken from any other part of the body. The process was slow and painful. Vecchione used underlying cartilage, and gave the nose shape and function. She can breathe through the nose and can even blow it. Vecchione still has some cosmetic work to do. Dolores only recently found out what happened to her nose. Her mother had felt too guilty to tell her. Vecchione is a 1959 graduate of Catholic Central High School. He attended Notre Dame University, Ohio State Medical School and the Harvard Medical School, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. He also studied at Edinburgh (Scotland) Medical School and interned at the Los Angeles County Medical Center. He has done research work on hand repair in Pittsburgh and neck repair in Miami. He practices in San Diego and also does charity work in Calixico, Mexico. Dr. Vecchione is a member of Branch No. 8164. Branches 8330 and 8340 — Baltimore, MD Tonight we are honoring a man who didn’t even know where Dundalk was when he was told where he would start his life as a priest. It didn’t take long for him to find out that it is a place he will never be able to forget. And Dundalk will never forget him. Each and every one of us here has special memories of how he affected our lives and we surely must have affected his. He helped us through difficulties, he taught us how to always look on the positive side. He joined us in our sorrows and joys, our ups and downs. He was always ready to listen, to give gentle advice and stern rebukes. By his example of Christian living, he showed us how to keep the faith. He didn’t tell us what we should do; he told us what we must do. He showed us how to “turn the other cheek”, how to be kind to our neighbor, how to treat our families and friends. This is the man we call friend, priest, Father and now Monsignor. Ladies and gentlemen, Monsignor Charles F. Muth. (Copy of President Kathryn Maurer’s introduction of Msgr.
