VOLUME 19 FALL 1984 New Jersey Branches Recognize Their National Directors and Auditor A testimonial dinner honoring National Directors Joseph Arvay, Zoltán Emri, Frank Radvany, and National Auditor Michael Hrabar, was held at the Franklin Park Inn, Franklin Park, N.J., on June 10, 1984. The dinner was well attended with an overflowing crowd. The program began with a welcome from Branch 1 9 Secretary Barbara Hegedűs, followed by the invocation rendered by the Reverend Paul Barnyock of St. Nicholas Church in Perth Amboy, N.J. The American and Hungarian National Anthems were sung by the entire assemblage. Dinner followed, consisting of stuffed cabbage, roast loin of pork, breaded veal cutlet, and all the trimmings, served family style, with palacsinta and coffee for dessert. Mr. Alex Horvath, Auditor of Branch 19, welcomed the guests in Hungarian. Director Joseph Arvay responded for the group and proceeded to introduce the National Directors from New Jersey; namely, Zoltán Emri, Frank Radvany, and Auditor Michael Hrabar. He also introduced the former Directors who sit on the Advisory Board, Michael Hegedűs and Frank Bero. They all responded with the appropriate words of gratitude for the support shown by all present. National Director Frank Radvany then introduced National Secretary, Gus G. Nagy; National Vice President, Stephen Lang; and Vice President of Planning, General Counsel Gay B. Banes, for a few words. Lastly, he introduced our National President, John Sabo, who delivered a stirring address urging the branches of New Jersey to keep the flame of fraternalism burning and to hold it high, carrying it forth to every corner of New Jersey, and to enroll as many people as we are able, to further the cause of fraternalism. He also reminded the assembly that the William Penn Association is the largest Hungarian fraternal organization in the country, and he intends to make it even larger. President Sabo's remarks were well received iwith a rousing round of applause. National Director Frank Radvany then had the distinct honor of introducing a former director as well as his father, Frank Radvany and his mother, Rose. Director Radvany then proceeded to introduce one of our scholarship recipients, Mr. Stephen Vecsey of Branch 13 in Trenton. Director Arvay introduced the following people who were present representing various organizations: Mr. George Bucs, President of Branch 22 in Roebling, NJ; Mr. Geza J. Lang, President of Branch 98 in Bethlehem, PA; Mr. Frank Zimmerman, representing Branch 51 in Passaic, NJ; Mr. Julius Belső, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Magyar Savings and Loan Associa(Continued on Page 7) _____________NUMBER 4 1984 Tour To Hungary A Successful Event The trip to Hungary was directed by the Vass Travel Agency from Detroit, Michigan. The trip originated from Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, July 22 with 77 passengers. They boarded at 10:00 A.M. and proceeded to Pittsburg^ where it loaded an additional 100 passengers. The flight then continued on to Budapest and arrived the following morning. The tour group dispersed by going to visit relations or taking either a four day or six day tour or just by visiting scenic Budapest. Most of the passengers that stayed in Budapest had rooms at one of the finest hotels. Hotel Forum, where service was superior and the food superb. The Hungarian World Federation hosted the Officers to a fine dinner and the Association hosted all 100 William Penn passengers as their guests with members of the Hungarian World Federation to a farewell dinner on August 1 3 at the Forum Hotel. The return flight stopped in Iceland to refuel and then on to Pittsburgh and Detroit. Official Notice To All Members The By-Laws of the William Penn Association, Chapter VI, Section 606 provides that the election of Officers shall be held at the annual meeting in December. Elections shall be by secret ballot. Each adult life benefit member in good standing shall have one vote for each office. Elections shall be by a majority of those present at the annual meeting. Officers elected at the annual meeting shall be installed immediately. All benefit members of the Association are cordially invited to attend their respective branch meetings, take an active part in the affairs of the branch and if called upon to serve or to assist, be willing to do this for the good of the branch, its members and the Association. With everyone cooperating, we can achieve wonders as a Fraternal Benefit Society.
