Minutes of the 30th General Convention . . .

Minutes of the 30th General Convention of the William Penn Association held on September 12, 13 and 14, 1983, in the Urban Room of the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, Penna.

1) National President and Convention Chairman Elmer Charles, called the 30th General Convention to order at 9:50 A.M.

2) The invocation was offered by Reverend Imre Kovács, Pastor, United Church of Christ, Springdale, Pa.

Reverend Kovács offered the same prayer that was offered by Vice President Louis L. Varga, when he attended his last Board Meeting in June, 1 983.

"Lord, we thank you for your kindness and guidance during the past four year term of our office which will soon be concluded. Help us to retain the friendships and love which has become a part of us as we collectively worked for the benefit of our society. Love is defined in the Book of Corinthians as "Love bears

all things, believe all things, hope all things, endure all things, love never ends."

Lord cleanse our hearts, our lips and our minds as we discuss the future of our William Penn Association so that it will eventually add to Thy glory and the people we represent.

Help us to understand that if we hope to continue as a persuasive Hungarian Society force, we will have to maintain a unified front — and while differences may exist among friends, they should always be set aside for the common good.

Lord, we realize that much of the future rests in our hands. Help us to be vigilant, courageous and consiliatory as we seek justice in our deliberations.

We ask this through Christ, Our Lord."

Elismerjük Istenünk, hogy Tőled származik minden áldás és tökéletes ajándék és ezért gyermeki bizalommal fordulunk Te hozzád, hogy erre a konvencióra is töldst ki kegyelmedet, áldásodat és szeretetednek boldogságát.

Te ihletted alapitó atyáinkat 97 évvel ezelőtt, hogy gondviselésednek legyenek buzgó eszközeivé és az özvegyek, árvák, öregek és betegek ügyét szivbéli szánalommal magukévá tegyék.

Te áldottad meg iparkodásunkat hűséges, becsületes vezetőkkel, kitartó, áldozatos tagsággal, hogy legyünk a Szabad Világ legnagyobb magyar testvérsegitő szervezete.

Folytassák továbbra is áldásod közlését, hűséges Istenünk, hogy továbbra is szivünkön viseljük özvegyeink, árvá-' ink, megöregedett éveink ügyét.

Legyen áldásod most ezen a konvención is, mint máskor, és segíts abban, hogy munkánkat messzelátá bátorsággal, tiszta szívvel, magyar és mások testvéri szerétével végezzük itt s majd a konvenció után pedig fiókjainkban, városainkban és valamikor pedig az egész világon.

Legyen a Tied a dicséret, dicsőség, tisztesség és hálaadás. Krisztus Jézus Urunk nevében kérünk.

4) The assembly sang the National Anthem led by Mr. George S. Charles, Jr. and the Magyar Himnusz led by Mrs. Barbara Kerékgyártó.
