George has served many important roles in the success of Branch 129 ovei the years. Just last year, he was the president of the Columbus branch. This year, again, he was one of the delegates to the September National Convention in Pittsburgh. Our summer picnic was held Sunday, August 14, at President Arpad Sibrik’s home in Hide-A-Way Hills, about 40 miles southeast of Columbus, near Lancaster. Numerous members found their way through the winding roads in the hills of southeastern Ohio to this lovely location for our summer outing. Food, refreshments, fellowship, and pleasant weather were enjoyed by all. L. to R.: Lou Miller, Art Bartfay, Arpad Sibrik, Eleanor Bordy, George Tokár, John Gaal, Irene Voss, and Henrietta Kovács at the August picnic. L. to R.: Margaret Leonardo and Margaret George make a trip to the food table. At our September meeting, plans were made for the annual Christmas party, which will be held on Sunday, December 18, starting at 2 P.M., at Leonardo’s on Parsons Avenue. Santa Claus will be making an appearance. He will have gifts for all the children. (Incidentally, did you know that Santa is a William Penn member from the Columbus branch?) Special door prizes will be awarded to four lucky adults. The tempting Hungarian menu will feature kolbász with lots of extras including some traditional Magyar pastries. Our next meeting will be held Wednesday night, December 14, at 8 P.M. An election of officers for the coming year will take place. Our meetings are held quarterly—on the second Wednesdays of the months December, March, June, and September. Meetings begin promptly at 8 P.M. at Leonardo’s Place, 1374 South Parsons, corner of Frebis. This is on Columbus’ south side in the Hungarian Village area. Snacks and refreshments are served. Winner of the door prize at our September meeting was Rose Varga. Will you be the winner next time! You need to attend to be a winner. We invite members of the William Penn who may have moved to Columbus in recent years, members of other branches who may occasionally find themselves in Columbus on our meeting nights, and Columbus members of the former Knights of St. George to participate in our meetings and functions, when they get a chance. Your fraternal attendance is welcome. For questions about our activities, contact Branch Manager, Irene Voss, at (614) 443-7797 between the hours of 10 A.M. and 2 P.M., Monday through Friday. The branch office is located at 1501 Parsons Avenue.
