notified. We see a lot of our fellow William Penn members there and it is always so nice to greet them all. Our Branch talked about a William Penn bowling league but it never got off the ground. At one time we had a vibrant league and we would hope that the young ones could revive it, but it appears that in these hard times they don’t have the money. A lot of them have jobs out of town and so can’t participate in a local weekly league, but we are hoping the economy will be turned around soon and the league just might become a reality again. We will keep trying. The next event coming up is the William Penn Children’s Christmas Party on Saturday, December 10th at 2:00 P.M., Our Lady of Hungary Church Hall. A nice program is planned for our entertainment—a magician and a clown! Gifts for the children and refreshments for all. Parents and grandparents of the children are also invited. We would like to see you all there to make the party a huge success. Branch 28 business meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:30 P.M., Our Lady of Hungary Church Hall, Belle Vista Ave. One new change was made at the Convention affecting Branch Officer elections. The Nominating Committee has been eliminated. Therefore, in December, the nomination from the floor and the election of Officers will be held at the same meeting. The December meeting falls on Monday, December 12th, 1983. See you all there! At 7:30 P.M., don’t forget! We end our little column with the extension of sympathy to all who may be suffering some kind of hardship. May the Lord give you peace and comfort. To those who have celebrated happier moments, our congratulations and best wishes. Again, just a reminder. For all your insurance needs, please contact Gabe Nameth, Branch Coordinator, Branch 28. Phone 792-8145. Fraternally yours, John G. Kaluczky Branch 28 Reporter Branch 51 Passaic, New Jersey We wish to thank Mr. Andrew Nemeth and Mr. Frank Zimmermann, our delegates to the recent general convention, for their excellent report to the membership as to the outcome of the convention. There were many changes as you all know. We want to thank the outgoing officers for all their hard work on behalf of the William Penn Association. As for the new incoming officers we want to congratulate them. They will have a tough job before them to uphold the accomplishments done by the outgoing officers. I’m sure they’ll do just as great a job, making the William Penn Association even greater through the coming years. Let’s all get behind them to make their job easier. As mentioned in our last edition of the William Penn Life, we will have a family Christmas party this year again. Your continued support of our officers was the deciding factor to have our family Christmas party this year again. We will have excellent entertainment by a modern day magician. With the hot torrid summer behind us, we are looking ahead to the pleasant golden autumn weather and renewed activities for the coming season. At the 30th General Convention held recently, we were informed of the passing of a good friend and dedicated fraternalist, National Vice President Louis Varga. Mr. Varga, who was an officer in the former Rakoczy Association before its merger with the William Penn, played a major role in the administration of our Associaton. He will be greatly missed. We shall revere his good deeds and memory and wish to express our sympathy to his family. The Convention just concluded will go down in our history due to the major changes'in the administrative staff of the Association, the largest ever. We wish the new officers the very best in their effort to help our organization grow. Our thanks and appreciation to the retiring officers for their dedicated service over the years. We wish to inform our members that the meeting and election of officers for the coming year will be held Saturday, December 10th, 1983 at 8 P.M. We would like more members to take an active role at our Branch. Come out and join us, we will all benefit. A word of advice to our members. When you have a change of address, please notify your Branch Manager or the Home Office, also, the designated beneficiary on your policy, if there is any change in their status. Correction is advisable to avoid complications later. For all your insurance needs or related matters, family events, please contact Branch Manager Steve Szemes, 543-8876. We would like to extend our best wishes for happiness and good health to all in the coming holidays. Steve Szemes Branch 1 29 Columbus, Ohio It has been awhile since the activities of our branch were reported in this magazine. We, indeed, have been active, so we want to let you know some of the things we have been “into.” On March 4, 1983, over 130 members and friends of William Penn gathered at the Columbus Maennerchor Club on South High Street to honor David George, one of Columbus’ most vigorous long-time members of the Association. A beautiful plaque was presented to David by Gus Nagy, National Secretary-Treasurer of William Penn. Inscribed on the plaque were the words: “in sincere appreciation for 40 years of dedicated service.” David David George 22
