VOLUME 17 FALL 1982 NUMBER 4 Agency Reaches Million Dollar Mark The Pittsburgh office, a pilot operation, which started in June, 1981, achieved $1,000,000 of written life and annuity premium for 1 982 on October 1, 1 982. Ron Abels, Agency Manager, and 9 full-time agents and 5 part-time agents of the Pittsburgh Agency are saluted for achieving this William Penn milestone. Our Greater Cleveland area agency, headed by Agency Manager, Jeff Ward, CLU, started its operation in June 1982. In just twenty weeks, they have submitted one-third of a million dollars in premium to the William Penn. Mr. Ward's wife, Dawn, is the agency's sales leader, to date, closely followed by John Petsock. Naturally, we are pleased with these results. It serves to show that our members appreciate and need good service and that members are quickly responsive to the new plans we've developed. You will want to look them over, too. National President Elmer Charles is shown congratulating Frank J. Wukovits, Sr., on the Golden Jubilee of the Hungarian Hour wishing him continued success in promoting Hungarian Heritage. The South Bend Hungarians are celebrating their One Hundredth Anniversary of the Hungarian Community in South Bend and the Golden Jubilee of the Hungarian Radio Hour. A commemorative banquet was held on Saturday, October 30, 1982 at the William Penn Hall, attended by more than 600 guests. The out of town dignitaries included: William Penn Association National President, Elmer Charles; National Secretary-Treasurer, Gus G. Nagy and Mrs. Nagy; National Vice President, Mr. John Balia; National Directors, Mr. Stephen Danko and Mrs. Danko, Mr. Albert Kertesz and Mrs. Kertesz, Mr. Albert J. Stelkovics and Mrs. Stelkovics; General Counsel, Mr. Gay B. Banes. Representing the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America were: Vice President and Secretary, Mr. Elmer Vargo and Mrs. Vargo; Vice President, Mr. William Szuch and Mrs. Szuch; Director, Mr. Charles Modory and Mrs. Modory; from Vandalia, Michigan, Reverend Kalman Csia and Mrs. Csia. The festivities started at 5:00 p.m. at the St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church with ecumenical religious services. Most Reverend Bishop Joseph R. Crowley D.D. celebrant; with Hungarian con-celebrants, Msgr. Elmer G. Peterson, Rev. Joseph P. Horvath, Rev. Anthony Molnár, and Rev. Thomas Lemos CSC. Benediction was given by Reverend Kalman Csia minister of the Hungarian Reformed Church. The Banquet festivities followed the religious service, with Most Rev. Bishop Crowley giving the invocation. The dinner followed—consisting of a traditional Hungarian style pork dinner; the menu being stuffed cabbage, sausage and hurka, parsley potatoes, Hungarian rye bread and nut törte and (Continued on Page 2)
