Secretary Nagy presents the following: REPORT OF THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE Mr. Chairman: Members of the William Penn Frater­nal Association Scholarship Founda­tion, Inc.: Our By-Laws, Article V. Section 2, provides that not less than seven, nor more than nineteen Directors be elected at the annual meeting of the Foundation. The Nominating Commit­tee, consisting of the Officers and Ex­ecutive Committee Members, propose that the following be selected Directors of the William Penn Fraternal Associa­tion Scholarship, Inc., for a one-year term: Frank Bero, Emma Beganyi, Zoltán T. Emri, Charles Fabian, Louis A. Fodor, Michael Hegedűs, Michael Hrabar, Michael Kara, William C. Kohut, Albert G. Kertesz, Stephen Lang, Violet Lenart, Steve Lesco, Gus G. Nagy, Frank J. Radvany, John Sabo, Albert J. Stelkovics, Joseph Toma and Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. Respectfully submitted, NOMINATING COMMITTEE Elmer Charles, John P. Balia, William C. Kohut, Gus G. Nagy and John Sabo Mr. Charles calls for nominations from the floor. Hearing none, he re­quests the Secretary to cast one ballot for their unanimous election of the nominees for a one-year term. Mr. Nagy hereby casts the unanimous ballot. Mr. Charles congratulates the elected Board members and requests all to continue to work for the best in­terest of the Scholarship Foundation. 12) For the good of the order, Presi­dent Charles states that hopefully by 1983, camping at Penn’s Scenic View will become a reality. The William Penn Association Board are providing for retirees and senior citizens to spend some time there. Details are now being finalized to perhaps include opportun­ity of Spring fishing season, Summer camping, Autumn hunting and Winter sports. The Association, in keeping with its aims and goals is making plans to in­crease fraternal activities on the branch level. He again urges everyone to keep up their enthusiasm for the Scholarship Foundation and the Association’s Fraternal Activities. 13) He now calls on those who in­dividually or for their branches, wish to make a donation or pledge to the Scholarship Foundation: Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Danko, $1,000.00; Mr. & Mrs. Albert J. Somogyi 1917-1982 Although he had been ailing for many years and was disabled to the extent he could not carry on his duties as National Treasurer, the death of Julius E. Somogyi on Fri­day, August 6, 1982, came as a shock to his immediate family and to his much larger William Penn Association family members and friends. Julius was born in Schenectady, New York, February 2, 1917, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Somogyi. The family moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where Julius was raised, married and lived until January 1956, when he moved to Pittsburgh as the National Treasurer of the William Penn Association. His Father was an active Officer in the Rákóczi Aid Association being the Recording Secretary of the parent lodge for many years. He in­stilled into Julius the love for a Hungarian Fraternal and as a result, he became a Juvenile Branch Manager of Branch 1 in the early 50's. He became a delegate to the 1951 Rákóczi Convention where he was elected Supreme Controller of the Association and took office July 1, 1951. In 1955, Julius was elected Na­tional Treasurer of the William Penn Fraternal Association and was re­elected to that position each suc­ceeding Quadrennial Convention un­til he retired July 1, 1978 due to ill health. Julius was very active in the Fraternal Field. He served as Presi­dent of the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh, was on the Ex­ecutive Committee of the Invest­ment Section of the National Frater­nal Congress of America. Served on the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress. He received the Illustrious Member Cita­tion of the William Penn Association and served as Treasurer of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation, Inc. In addition to Fraternal Activities, he was an active member of the Masonic Order. He was Past Master of the William D. Mcllroy Lodge, #758. He was an Officer of the Southminster Presbyterian Church, Mt. Lebanon, Pa. Julius was preceeded in death by his beloved wife, Goldie Kovács Somogyi. He is survived by three children, Richard of Memphis, Tennessee; Margaret Barna and Carol Rolewicz, Mt. Lebanon, Pa. and 5 grand­children, Richard, Chris and Gwynne Somogyi; Kristy and Robin Rolewicz and Kim Barna; mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Kovács, Bridgeport, Ct.; brother-in-law, Donald Kovács, Fair­­field, Ct. and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Somogyi was buried August 9, 1982 in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Among the pallbearers were John Sabo, John E. Lovász, John Tusai, Albert J. Stelkovics, Gary Barna, Joe Barna, David Rolewicz and Mike Mc­Carthy. Julius served his fellow man in a Christian and fraternal manner. We shall all miss his pleasant, jovial friendship. We mourn his untimely passing and will always remember him. May he rest in peace. 9
