Branch 24 Christmas Party Branch 24 Chicago, Illinois Branch 24 held its annual children’s and grown-up’s Christmas Party Sunday afternoon, December 14, 1980, at the Ivanhoe Park Fieldhouse. I’m happy to report the hall was filled with grown-ups and children. President Charles Akai greeted the children and grown-ups. He assured all present an enjoyable afternoon. Next everyone joined in singing Christmas carols. Soon Santa arrived with gifts and goodies for the children. Delicious food and refreshments were served to all present. Paul Novak, our Vice President, did a very good job as Santa. We thank him very much. The Officers and members of Branch 24 thank the Home Office for the generous allotment, which helped make this party a huge success. Branch 24 held its election of Officers Sunday afternoon, December 14, 1980. The following members were elected Officers for 1981: Charles Akai, President; Paul Novak, Vice President; Bert Garszck, Recording Secretary; Betty Hartley, Treasurer; Betty Akai, Corresponding Secretary and Reporter; Mrs. Mary Bertok, Auditor. After the meet ing, delicious refreshments were served. Just a reminder to all our fellow members. Our meetings are held every second Sunday of each month at 2:30 “Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.”- Kahlil Gibran p.m., at the Ivanhoe Park Fieldhouse, 144th and Stewart Avenue in Riverdale, Illinois. Cards and Bunco are played, refreshments are served. Please join us. The Officers and members of Branch 24 wish all our fellow members a very healthy, happy prosperous New Year. Fraternally yours, Betty Akai, Reporter Branch 24 Branch 22 Roebling, N.J. On December 18, 1980, the children and parents of Branch 22 enjoyed a wonderful Christmas party. There was a visit from Santa, with gifts for the children, refreshments, and a very interesting magic show which was presented by Mr. Ronald H. Russell of Willingboro, New Jersey. Prior to the party, our branch meeting was held. The following persons were installed as our officers for 1981: President, Bela Emri; Vice President, John Suth; Secretary, Barbara Emri; Treasurer, Zoltán Emri; Auditors, George Bucs and Andrew Gabor. We are still selling the William Penn cookbooks. These make excellent gifts and are available from any officer. Our regular monthly meetings are scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of each month. These meetings will be held at the Roebling Rescue Squad Hall, located on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Hornberger Avenue. We send everyone our best wishes for health and happiness in the new year. Respectfully submitted, Barbara Emri, Branch Secretary After many years of service, the Lord has finally called John Kukuda to his rest on November 13, 1980. When a person like John leaves you, there is a void in your life. We will dearly miss our friend and all the members of Branch 26 will miss him as well. Mr. Kukuda’s passing created a vacuum; a need that has to be filled in the Branch. The Association has appointed Stephen J. Emery, 484 South Oakland Avenue, Sharon, Pa. 16146, as the new Branch Manager. If you have any insurance needs, contact Mr. Emery at (412) 346-3238. Branch 26 Sharon, Pa. Branch 59 Scalp Level, Pa.
