William Penner In The News QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT OUR 1980 GROUP TOUR TO HUNGARY Mr. August J. Molnár, President of the American Hungarian Foundation presented to Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa. the Founda­tion's "Abraham Lincoln Award" in grateful recognition of the outstand­ing educational and cultural services and opportunities F & M College rendered for its students from 1 922 through 1 936 by offering a program of Hungarian Studies as part of the College's curriculum. The award was presented on Homecoming Day when the Hungarian alumni of the College gathered to honor the memory of Dr. Alexander Toth who was Chairman of the Hungarian Studies program at F & M. Other William Penn members at­tending were Rev. Louis G. Novak, Rev. Stephen Sziarto, Rev. Arthur Antal and Mrs. Mary Stelkovics. 1. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO MAKE THE TOUR? All members of the Association are eligible to make the tour. Non­members, friends and relatives of our members may also make the tour, for a registration fee of $10.00. 2. WHEN WILL THE TOUR ORIGINATE? On Sunday, August 3rd, 1 980, through special arrangement with Capitol Airways, a chartered DC-8 Jet will board passengers in Dayton, Ohio, fly to Pittsburgh, Pa. to pick up additional members, then fly directly to Budapest, arriving Monday, August 4th in the morning. 3. WHEN WILL THE TRIP RETURN? Depending on your tour options, you can stay a minimum of 14 days in Hungary and leave Budapest on Monday, August 1 8th, or a maximum of 28 days and leave Budapest on Monday, September 1 st. Either flight from Budapest will terminate at J.F. Kennedy airport, in New York. There are only two options for the return flight, aspartofthetour. 4. WHY DOES THE TRIP TERMINATE IN NEW YORK AND NOT IN PITTSBURGH OR DAYTON? Capitol Airways is a Charter service; not a domestic airline. As such, the FAA does not permit them to carry passengers west of New York. All members will arrange their own transportation from New York to their residence city. 5. WHAT DOES THE AIR FARE COST? Depending on your departure city, the round trip fare per person, from Dayton to Pittsburgh to Budapest to New York is $ 549.00 + $6.00 tax* or from Pittsburgh to Budapest to New York would be $51 5.00 + $6.00 tax*. (*subject to 1980 fuel increases as an additional cost) 6. WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE PLANNED FOR THE TOUR? There are several options available to you once you arrive in Budapest: a. Some members will just want to join the tour for the special air fare and visit relatives or friends living in Hungary. They will return on one of the two return flights. b. Members and their friends making the tour for the first time will want to stay in Budapest on August 4th and 5th at special accomodations that have been arranged. The lodging for both nights is only $55.00 per person and includes breakfast. c. There's an optional tour of the famous landmarks of enchanting Budapest available on August 5th for only $34.40 per person, and all meals of the day are included. d. Starting August 6th there are two very popular tours leaving Budapest: 1. TRANS-DANUBIA TOUR which takes 6 days to enjoy will leave on August 6th and return on August 12th. Cost is $300.00 per person Dbl occupancy, Single occupancy is $370.00 per person. 2. EASTERN-SOUTHERN HUNGARY TOUR takes 8 whole days to complete, leaving on August 6th and returns on August 14th. Cost is $400.00 per person, Dbl occupancy, Single occupancy is $495.00 per person. e. These package tour costs do not include hotel accomodations AFTER you return from the tour. Each person is expected to provide for their own accomodations until the date of their return flight. Special packages have already been arranged with the Hotel Duna Inter­Continental for this purpose and are as follows: Package A —7 days/6 nights @ $368.80 per person Package B —4 days/3 nights @ $254.00 per person f. You may wish to see Hungary on your own, rather than our pre­planned tour packages. We will be happy to assist you making arrangements for car, lodging, maps, etc. 4
