Delegates from Connecticut and Massachusetts 40) The Chairman of the Nominating Committee presented the following names of candidates for the position of Alternate Auditing Com­mittee members: James Katona, Anna Wash, An­thony C. Beke, Julius Yuhasz, Cindy Hartman and Robert Stypa. It was moved, seconded and adopted by the delegates to close the nomina­tions and a ballot will be prepared for the voting. Three alternates will be elected. Position on the ballot was drawn by lots by the Nominating Com­mittee. 41) President Charles thanked the Chairman and all the members of the Nominating Committe for their efforts in presenting candidates for the respec­tive offices. The Committee is discharged with thanks. 42) It was moved, seconded and authorized that both Alternate Direc­tor and Alternate Auditing Committee Members be placed on one ballot with the proviso that if a ballot for alternate auditing committee member is voided for any reason, it will not void the ballot for alternate Director election. 43) Chairman of the Resolutions Committee Stephen G. Danko offered the following resolution pertaining to honorariums and travel per diems for delegates, ex-officio, non-voting delegates and officially invited guests. RESOLUTION RESOLVED by the 29th General Convention, that regardless of (he number of days the General Conven­tion be in session, the honorarium for each of the elected delegates, ex­­officio, non-voting delegates and of­ficially invited guests present at this Convention be established at $850.00. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that each of the Convention members be entitled to $125.00 per day travel per diem, specifically: for those traveling 100 miles or more one way from the City in which he resides to Pittsburgh, Pa. $125.00 and $125.00 for return from Pittsburgh to his residence. For those members of the Convention traveling less than 100 miles one way, shall be entitled to one-half travel per diem each way. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that each of the Convention members be entitled to 20 cents per mile travel expense from his residence to Pitts­burgh and return. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that for the ensuing four year term the official per diem and travel per diem be $125.00 and 20 cents per mile travel ex­pense. This Resolution was unanimously adopted by the Convention. 44) President Charles announced that the banquet will be Tuesday eve­ning in the Grand Ballroom of the William Penn Hotel. All delegates and their spouses as well as officially in­vited guests will be guests of the Association with a social hour at 5:30 P.M. and Dinner at 6:45 P.M. 45) President Charles thanked everyone for their fine cooperation and he was happy to share all the history making events that have taken place this day. The trust in the National Of­ficers and the Board of Directors is tru­ly a great tribute by the delegates. 46) The Chairman recessed the meeting at 4:30 P.M. until 10:00 A.M. Radvany Convention Secretary ★★★★★★★★★★★ Minutes of the 29th General Con­vention of the William Penn Associa­tion held on Tuesday, September 11, 1979 in the Pittsburgh Room of the William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh, Penn­sylvania. 47) Chairman of the Convention and National President Elmer Charles reconvened the meeting at 10:00 A.M. and same are present. 48) He welcomed everyone and was happy to see everyone in such fine spirits. He called on the Secretary for the Minutes of Monday’s meeting. 49) Secretary of the Convention Frank J. Radvany read the Minutes of Monday’s proceedings. It was moved, seconded and accepted by the delegates as corrected. 50 Stephen G. Danko, Chairman of the Resolutions Committee presented the following resolution pertaining to honorariums for the Board of Direc­tors. RESOLUTION RESOLVED by (his 29th General Convention in regular meeting assembled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this llth day of September, 1979 that the Honorarium for the members of the Board of Directors and the members of the Auditing Committee be $3,500.00 per year for the ensuing four year term of office commencing with their installation at this 29th General Convention. It was moved, seconded and ac­cepted by the delegates. 51) President Charles announced once again that the Banquet will be held in the William Penn Hotel Grand Ballroom this evening commencing with a social hour at 5:30 P.M. which will be followed by dinner and danc­ing. 52) President Charles presented the following report: PRESIDENT’S REPORT After sixteen years as your president, I want to share with you what it’s like to sit in the president’t chair. To discover that the position is not as powerful as some people think it is; that the total view from the top can reveal considerable complexity as well as unified simplicity; that the president’s publics occasionally love him for the right reason and hate him for the wrong reason. Because I enjoy being the president, I can tell you that being the president is a lot of fun. 26
