1979 Fraternalist Of The Year GEORGE BATYKO The Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh selected Mr. George Batyko, President of the Greek Catholic Union of the U.S.A. as its 1979 Fraternalist of the Year. In his honor there was a banquet Saturday, March 10, 1979 in the Pittsburgh Hyatt House. There was an interesting program. Mr. Stephen T. Szilagyi, Vice Presi­dent of Marketing who is President of the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pitts­burgh, was the Master of Ceremonies. Greetings and remarks were extended by Honorable Richard J. Caliguiri, Mayor of Pittsburgh, Mr. A. Moore Lifter, Deputy Insurance Commis­sioner Commonwealth of Penn­sylvania, Raymond Klee, Executive Vice President National Fraternal Con­gress of America, Honorable Nicholas A. Cipriani, President Pennsylvania Fraternal Congress. Principal Speaker was Honorable Joseph M. Gaydos, U.S. Congress. Joseph J. Miller presented the 1979 Fraternalist of the Year award to Mr. Batyko who then responded to the presentation. Stephen T. Szilagyi presented the Brotherhood of Man Award to Honorable Leonard C. Staisey, former Chairman Allegheny County Board of Commissioners. Among the more than 500 guests were members of the William Penn Board of Directors, Auditing Commit­tee, Officers and Home Office Staff. Music during the dinner and later for dancing was furnished by Mickey Schwartz and his orchestra. Previous Fraternalist of the Year recipients were seated at the Head Table, Messrs: Elmer Charles (1976), Bernard M. Luketich (1977), Joseph Miller (1978). Delegate District Meetings Secretaries of the following Districts have notified the Home Office as to the time and place of DELEGATE DISTRICT MEETINGS. Publication of these notices in WILLIAM PENN LIFE, satisfies the by-laws requirements for notification of DELEGATE DISTRICT MEETINGS. The Branch number of the Delegate district is also listed so that the membership can more readily determine where he will have to appear in order to cast his vote for Delegate(s) and Alternate Delegate(s). All adult members, who are in good standing, are respectfully requested to attend their DELEGATE DISTRICT MEETING and vote for their choice of Delegate(s).
