Minutes of The Board of Directors Quarterly Meeting Excerpts of Minutes Board of Directors of the William Penn Association Held on December 12, 1977 in the Board Room of the Home Office, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 1) National President Elmer Charles opened the meeting at 10:00 A.M. He welcomed the Board of Directors and National Officers to this December Board Meeting. He was extremely pleased to welcome the National Treasurer, Julius E. Somogyi, to the meeting. He hoped Mr. Somogyi will continue his fine recovery from his illness and will soon be with us full time. During this holiday season Mr. Charles is looking forward to a fruitful meeting. He stated the Agenda was rather short in number of items, but heavy in important matters which will be discussed and proper decisions rendered. Mr. Charles thanked everyone who attended the American Hungarian Foundation George Washington Awards dinner in New York City wherein he was awarded the Theodore von Karman award for his outstanding humanitarian and philanthropic leadership in public and professional responsibilities. The attendance of the Board of Directors and friends provided the opportunity to share the honor of the award and added to the highlights of the event. Szilagyi. 5) The Agenda is adopted with the proviso that any matter properly belonging before the meeting may be added thereto during the course of the meeting. 6) National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics read the Minutes of the Executive Committee meetings held on November 17 and November 18, 1977. The Board acknowledged these Minutes and proceeded to review and discuss same page by page. 7) The Board acknowledged receipt of letter from the American Hungarian Foundation informing the Association of the tragic death of Dr. Peter C. Goldmark as a result of an auto accident. Dr. Goldmark, a director of the American Hungarian Foundation was former President of CBS Laboratories. He organized Goldmark Communications Corporation which he headed. World renowned for his many contributions in the field of electronic communications. His invention of the long playing record and his development of the first practical color television system revolutionized the home entertainment industry.
