Our newly organized Branch is progressing very successfully and we are very pleased that many members who came to Florida from other states are answering Mr. Anthony Noel’s letter and are transferring from their former branch to Branch 590 in the state of Florida. We hope that in the future members who come to Florida will attend our Branch meeting to see how we function and we are of course interested in establishing a well rounded out social program for our members. We are very pleased to have among the members of Branch 590 Jackie Ilemsky, daughter of Karoly and Bertha Ilemsky, who is 16 years old. She was voted Model of the Year of Lee County. She has captured several modeling, dancing, photogenic and talent awards. She is a straight A student, plays the piano, dances ballet and modern jazz and like most Hungarians, loves to cook. Cape Coral Branch 590 is certainly proud to have her as a member. We hope to see many members present at the December Branch Meeting. Your Reporter, William Yeager Fraternalism In Action Pittsburgh, Pa. to Elkhard, Ind. The picture above shows Mrs. Anna Green of Branch 34, Pittsburgh, Pa. accepting a rose from Mrs. David Albin of Wakarusa, Indiana. This is a deeply touching occasion which we are happy to chronicle in our Official Publication. Mrs. Anna Green is a retired Home Office Employee who first started her career with the William Penn Association in April 1934 and retired April 1, 1964. Twenty years ago as Mrs. Green was checking Juvenile membership application she came across an application for Michelle Magyery whose birthday fell on the same day as that of Mrs. Green, namely October 3. Out of a spirit of fraternalism and friendship Mrs. Green wrote a letter to the baby’s mother, Mrs. Willowdean Magyery, and as a result of this exchange of pleasantries a correspondence for the next twenty years ensued between the two families. Neither had ever met personally. Michelle in planning her wedding could not forget her “Pen Pal”, therefore, invited Mrs. Green to attend the happiest day of her life, the day she got married. Mrs. Green happily accepted and attended the wedding. MORE WOMEN WORKING; MORE HELP NEEDED AT HOME Over 36 million women have joined the working force, according to the latest Census Bureau report. Of these 21 million or 58 percent are married and nearly half of these have children under 18 years of age at home. With the changing lifestyles, lack of time becomes the prime functional problem for the working mother. She has to apportion her time among many duties and responsibilities including preparing balanced meals for the family. This means organized teamwork at home! 12
