Hungarian Club Greets Visitors From Budapest Members of the William Penn Asso­ciation (Downriver Branch) Hungarian Social Club were hosts at a banquet fet­ing Dr. Zoltán Szabó and Mrs. Joli Varga, both of Budapest. The dinner was served in the club headquarters, in Lincoln Park. Dr. Szabó is secretary of the Hun­garian World Federation, an organiza­tion dedicated to the promotion of Hun­garian culture throughout the universe. Mrs. Varga, who assists Dr. Szabó, serves as official hostess to Americans visiting Hungary. Father Albin V. Veszelovszky, of Green Bay, Wis., gave the invocation, and Steve Danko, president of the Wil­liam Penn Association Branch, intro­duced the guests. Julius Macker gave the official wel­come. A new American flag was dedicated to the club by Andrew Toth. Danko accepted a Hungarian flag and detailed map of Hungary as gifts from the Hungarian World Federation. We have two William Penn Mixed Bowling Leagues bowling on alternate Sundays. Steve Vargo did a wonderful job to put these Leagues together. The bowlers stop in at the Social Club after bowling for snacks and refreshments be­ing served by Steve and Darlene Szat­mári. * * * Our Children’s Christmas Party will be held at the V.F.W. Hall on Fort and Montie Streets on Sunday, December 4, 1977 at 3:00 p.m. * * * Election of officers for the Branch will be held on the first Monday of December. * * * The Ladies Auxiliary celebrated its 15th Anniversary with a dinner at the Social Club on October 22nd. GREETING GUESTS — Steve Danko (center, president of the William Penn Association, Downriver Branch) Hungarian Social Club, welcomes two visitors from Budapest at a banquet in the organiza­tion's headquarters. Dr. Zolton Szabó, secretary of the Hungarian World Federation signs the guest book while Mrs Joli Varga awaits her turn. Mrs. Varga is the federation's official hostess to Americans visiting Hungary. The Branch Picnic was well attended and a big success. Representatives from the Home Office in Pittsburgh were National President Elmer Charles, Na­tional Secretary Albert Stelkovics, Na­tional Vice President John P. Balia, Vice President Membership Services Gus G. Nagy and Vice President-Marketing Ste­phen Szilagyi. The Hungarian program depicting the tasks and traditions of our forefathers was well presented and very colorful. Our thanks to Mrs. Velma Szabó and her husband and all of the Hungarian dancers who participated in making this presentation possible. Thanks also to the many who gave of their time and energy to make this event the success that it was. All Club members wishing to celebrate New Year’s eve at the Club are to make their reservations as soon as possible.
