Director Mr. Rad­­vany gave a short talk on the many advantages offered by becoming a mem­ber of the William Penn Association. The last note had hardly sounded when our newly elected Entertainment Committee started to plan for our next Dinner-Dance to be held on November 19, 1977 at the same place (U.G.H. Club). To all you new parents and grand­parents, now would be a good time to plan the future of our darling children by taking advantage of the many ways you can invest in insurance for them. There is a way that can be worked out. For further information please consult Mr. Stephen Szemes, Jr. at KI 3-8876. He will be more than glad to help you. After a spirited election the following officers were elected: President, Mr. Peter Wlosak: Vice President, Mr. Frank Farkas; Treasurer, Mr. Joseph Karoly; Corresponding Secretary, Mrs. Helen Kuzzman Schenkel; Recording Secretary, Mr. Daniel Rosenfeld; Auditors, Mrs. Annabell Karoly and Mrs. Elsie Szemes. Mrs. Mary Rosenthal passed away on December 14, 1976. We extend our sym­pathies to her three sons and two daughters. Both of them are home now after a stay at our local hospitals. To the two Betty’s: May your recovery be swift and complete. Interesting but little known facts: One of our members, a National Direc­tor of the American Hungarian Founda­tion with a strong interest in American history is responsible for one of the least expected aspects of our just celebrated Bicentennial Year. The translation into the Hungarian Language of the guide­book for “Touring Independence Na­tional Historic Park in Philadelphia”. The printing of this little Blue Booklet was made possble by the Rotary Club of Philadelphia. No doubt a great help to our many Hungarian visitors. The William Penn Association Branch 132 held its usually very successful Children’s Christmas Party at the Wil­liam Penn Hail on Saturday, December 18, 1976 with the children, their parents and some grandparents participating. A most enjoyable Saturday afternoon was had by all those present. The children’s Christmas program opened with National Director, Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. giving greetings in behalf of the Home Office and Branch 132. The program started with the singing of Christmas carols led by Mrs. Ann Muckenfuss, Mrs. Esther Lobaugh, Mrs. Lana Dyczsko and Mrs. Isabelle Hupka accompanying at the piano. Frank J. Wukovits, Jr. followed by showing a Christmas movie after which singing followed again until the arrival of Santa, giving the children candy stockings and a choice of nice gifts. This was followed by serving potato chips, pop, ice cream and other goodies to both children and parents. Mr. Richard Muckenfuss performed the duties of Santa. His helpers were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hupka, Mrs. Richard Muckenfuss, Mrs. Greg Dyczsko, Mrs. Kenneth Lobaugh, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Wukovits, Jr., Mr. Paul Varga, Mrs. Julia Dobrzykowski, Mr. Pius Skarich and Mr. Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. The Branch 132 officers started a new worthwhile project promoting the sale of the Cook Book “Hungarian Specialties and Other Favorites” which are avail­able at The William Penn Association South Bend District Office, 1024 W. Indiana Ave. — South Bend, Indiana 46613 or from the officers. Total pro­ceeds from the sale of these cookbooks will be donated to the William Penn Association Scholarship Foundation. Leslie Könnyű, member of Branch 209, St. Louis, Mo., well known author and writer, has had published by the Beth­leni Press, Ligonier, Pa., a book, “Hun­garians in the Mississippi Valley”. This Bicentennial Book is a memorial to the Hungarian Diaspora in the Mis­sissippi Valley. Includes two maps, 70 photos, footnotes, list of sources, artistic illustrations by famous artists: George Buday, Joseph Dómján, Adalbert Gy. Szabó, and Andre Torok. It is the only book which gives, for 130 years, all the Hungarian datas of a great American region. We recommend this book to our members. Book may be purchased from the author, 5410 Kerth Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63128 for $4.50. 214 FLINT, MICH. Our Branch Childrens’ Christmas Party was held December 5th in the Hungarian Reformed Church Hall, where about sixty persons were present. The children enjoyed the party and it was nice to see the parents and some grand­parents present also. Everyone enjoyed the excellent Hungarian pastries which were prepared by Mrs. Mary Udvarnoky and Mrs. Mary Vasas. The children were furnished pop, po­tato chips, chocolates and home-made Christmas candy. These were distributed by Santa’s helper, Rudy Kautman. Les­lie Nadasi and Jeffrey Varga decorated the tables and trimmed the Christmas tree. They also entertained the children. All those who attended were happy with the Christmas Party and expressed thanks to the Home Office for making this possible. Following the party there was a busi­ness meeting of Branch 214. Election of Officers for 1977 were as follows: President, Marton Nadasi; Vice Presi­dent, Louis Sipos; Secretary-Treasurer, George Varga; Auditors, Louis Toth and Louis Sipos. George Varga Branch Manager 226 McKeesport, pa. Election of Officers for 1977 took place on Sunday, December 12, in the meeting room of St. Stephen’s Church. Taking office are Louis L. Siebert, President; John Sabo, Vice President; Edward M. Rietski, Secretary; Mrs. Vio­let B. Lenart, Treasurer and Publicity; Mrs. Elizabeth Buck and Mrs. Ethel Sabo, Auditors. * * * * A most successful Christmas Party for the children of Branch 226 was held on Sunday, December 12, at the Du­­quesne Golf Club in West Mifflin. As in the past, Branch 27 of Duquesne: Branch 89 of Homestead, and Branch 34, Pitts­burgh, joined with Branch 226 in wel­coming and entertaining approximately three hundred youngsters for the Holi­day Festivities. Of course, many of the children brought parents with them so that our over all turnout was excellent and the largest we have ever had. Entertainment consisted of the singing 16
