189 ALLIANCE, OHIO Congratulations to William Louis Frances, son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Frances, who was listed in “Who’s Who Among Music Students in American High Schools!” William attends Marlington High School. He is an Eagle Scout, where he held the position of assistant patrol and senior patrol leader. Young Mr. Frances was Boy’s State Delegate of 1975, on the National Honor Society, on the Society of Distinguished American High School Students and 1975 American History Scholarship Team. William’s musical instrument is the trumpet. He plays in Concert, Pep, Marching and Stage Bands, also the orchestra of Marlington High. He holds the Distinguished Musicians Certificate in United States Marines Youth Foundation and National Band Association of 1975. William was crowned 1975 Band King of Marlington High. Mr. Frances is on the staff of Camp Tuscozoah Buckeye Council Camping. We are proud of William Frances. We know his father John L. Frances, Br. 189 Secretary and his mother Ethel, the former Ethel Buzogány are very, very proud. Good luck to an Alliance native living in Elyria, Ohio, namely Joseph Ince who is retiring from the meat business. Mr. Ince was bom and raised in Alliance, along with his brothers Julius, Frank, and Bill and sisters Margaret and Irene. His parents, now deceased, were well known among the Hungarians in Alliance. Joe starten in grocery and meat business when a young boy working for Korosy Brothers traveling markets in Alliance. We are glad to hear Mr. Joseph Ezzo is improving nicely after heart surgery and is now back home. Our sincere sympathy goes out to the Steven Mate family at the death of their father. Branch Manager Michael Duruttya was elected the delegate to attend the September 8 William Penn National Convention to be held in Pittsburgh. Mr. Michael Buzogány was elected as alternate. Congratulations to our Branch President, Louis Siebert and his lovely wife Anne, on the occasion of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary, celebrated on Sunday, April 13. The Officers and Members of our Branch extend their very Best Wishes for many more years of togetherness for the Sieberts! The Dinner Dance held at the Duquesne Golf Club in West Mifflin on Saturday, June 14, for the benefit of the William Penn Scholarship Foundation was a huge success. Representatives from the surrounding Branches in Western Pennsylvania were also present and this again ensured the success of the affair. We were indeed pleased to have the National Officers and many of the National Board of Directors, and their lovely wives, present. It was noted that a wonderful time was had by all! Our hats are off to the Branch 226 bowlers participating in the National Bowling Tournament in Chicago on May 24 and 25 for their victory. Members bringing home some of the prize money for single and double events were Cecelia Pfefferkorn, Dolores Szirmáé, Barbara Balawajder, Audrey DeLeo, Marjorie Pfefferkorn and Joseph Gonzales. The Men’s Team, Captained by Joseph Szirmáé, came in Third Place. Congratulations to all of our bowlers who participated for a good show! Needless to say, the accommodations and hospitality extended by the Chicago Branch members and Committees were excellent and a most enjoyable time was had by all. Mr. and Mrs. Üveges, Sr. Lower Burell, marked their golden wedding anniversary, Saturday, June 24, 1975. Their sons and daughters were hosts for the event which included a reception for 400 friends and relatives at a sit-down dinner. Elmer Charles, President William Penn Association was toastmaster for the festivities, he also was toastmaster at a celebration marking the couple’s silver wedding anniversary 25 years ago. Also attending from the Association were Mrs. Elmer Charles, Mr and Mrs. John P. Balia, Mr and Mrs. James Beganyi, Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Stelkovics, Mr. and Mrs. Gus G. Nagy, Mr and Mrs. George Charles, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Telegdi. The Rev. Imre Kovács of Springdale United Church of Christ was among the guests who reminisced into the lives of the couple. Miss Mary Nagy, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nagy of Portage, became the bride of Stephen Üveges June 22, 1925, in Portage. Mr. Üveges parents Mr. and Mrs. Alex Üveges, also deceased, emigrated from Hungary to the United States. They settled in Cassandra near Portage. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Üveges They are parents of three daughters, Mrs. Boris (Helen) Gosciejew of Lower Burell, Mrs. Robert (Irene) Johnson and Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Antoniono, both of Leechburg. Their sons are Steven, Jr. and Alex both of Conneaut, Ohio. Sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild complete the family. Both are members of Springdale United Church of Christ, where Mr. Üveges is an elder. Mrs. Üveges and her husband, who are active members of William Penn Association, were presented a plaque by the William Penn Board of D irectors in recognition of their fraternal activities at Branch 296. The goldenweds spend their free time gardening. He likes to fish and she, to crochet and sew and both are active William Penn bowlers. They plan to travel to Hungary later this month to visit relatives. Our good wishes for continued happiness to the Uvegeses.
