VOLUME 9 APRIL, 1974 NUMBER 2 Wm. Penn National Bowling Tournament Plans Completed OFFICIAL NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS NEW MINIMUM PREMIUM PAYMENT RULES ADOPTED. In the January issue of the WILLIAM PENN LIFE we called to the attention of the membership how the inflationary spiral and rising costs were effecting the cost of operating the ASSOCIATION. The Board of Directors, at its quarterly meeting in March had to deal with this problem: after considerable discussion and on the basis of Chapter VII, Section of the By-Laws entitled: “Premium Payments” and which states as follows: “The mode and time of premium payments shall be established from time to time by the Board of Directors.” The Board unanimously resolved to establish new minimums for the payment of premiums effective July 1, 1974. The full text of the Board Resolution can be found under Point 20 of the Excerpts from the Board Minutes appearing elsewhere in this issue. The resolution in effect makes it mandatory to pay premiums as billed. Any member whose monthly life premium on any one certificate is $10.01 or more can pay either monthly, quarterly, semiannually or annually. Those members whose monthly life premium, on any one certificate, amounts to between $5.01 and $10.00 may pay quarterly, semi-annually or annually. If member’s monthly life premium on any one certificate totals 2.51 to $5.00 he may pay semi-annually or annually. Any member whose monthly life insurance premium is $2.50 or less can pay annually only. All members are urged to pay in accordance with the way premium payment notices are sent to them. Veszprémi, Jr. inform us that over 50 teams have registered for the 31st National Bowling Tournament to be held in the Thunderbowl Lane, Allen Road. Headquarters will be the Ramada Inn, near the Metropolitan Airport in Detroit, Michigan. We are all relieved to know that the gasoline crisis has eased and there will be sufficient fuel available for those who decide to drive to the Tournament as in the past. Gus G. Nagy, Tournament Coordinator informs us that final plans have been also made for the Scholarship Dinner- Dance to be held Saturday, May 25, 1974 in the grand ballroom of the Ramada Inn. All pertinent information has been mailed to the Branches and Team Captains. For tickets, which must be purchased in advance, please contact your Officers or Captains. An exellent meal is being prepared and a fine orchestra has been contracted for the dancing. All members of WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION are cordially invited to NOTICE!-ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP MEETING Complying with Article IV, Section 1 of the WÍLLIAM PENN FRATERNAL ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION, Inc. By-Laws the annual membership meeting is called for Saturday, May 25, 1974 at 1:30 P.M. in the Ramada Inn by the Detroit Metropolitan Airport for the purpose of electing Directors and for the transaction of any other business which may legally come before the meeting. All voting memlrers of the Scholarship Foundation are cordially invited to attend. Elmer Charles, President participate in this Memorial Day weekend of fraternal activities. The Local Committee composed of Branches 18, 56 and 500 are looking forward to welcoming one and all, a good time is assured for all. Third Annual Western Pennsylvania Scholarship Dinner-Dance The William Penn Association Branches of Western Pennsylvania and Greater Pittsburgh area are sponsoring a gala Dinner — Dance, Saturday, May 4, 1974 in the beautiful setting of Duquesne Golf Club, Commonwealth Avenue, West Mifflin, Pa. at 6:30 P.M. All members, friends and supporters of the William Penn Scholarship Foundation are cordially invited to attend. Your participation will mean a fine social evening and help provide a valuable benefit to the College age students of the Association. This is the third such event and the Committee decided on a May date, because in the previous two years, the winter storms held down the attendance. The Committee has arranged for a delicious meal to be served at 6:30 P.M. after which there will be dancing to the fine rhythms of Mickey Schwartz and his well known orchestra. Tickets are available from the Officers of the following Branches: 34, Pittsburgh, Pa. 71, Duquesne, Pa. 89, Homestead, Pa. 226, McKeesport, Pa. 296, Springdale, Pa.
