After all the children departed Santa left for the North Pole assuring us that he would be back again next year. George Modock, Illustrious Member passed away. He was born in Hungary May 23, 1889. He is survived by two children, Helen, wife of Michael Gallo and Julia, wife of Michael Kondás with whom he resided, also 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was an active officer of Branch 33 Windber, Pa. Mr. Modock participated in a membership campaign for which he won a trip to Europe. He was always proud to be a member of the William Penn and worked hard to secure new members. He was a retired blacksmith. Our sympathy goes out to the families. Fraternally yours, Mrs. Joseph Miller, Branch Manager 76 Philadelphia, Pa. BANQUET NEWS: On November 11th, 1972, we held our Annual Fall Banquet at the United German Hungarian Hall. The turnout was tremendous and we thank all of our neighboring friends for attending. Everyone agreed that this banquet was just great! Without a doubt, the food, music and even the weather were perfect. To all our officers of Branch 76 a special bow of thanks for your efforts in making this the social success it was. Left to right-.Director Hegedűs, Field Manager G. Nagy, Kathy, grand-daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Debrey, Director Z. Emri. During the intermission, pictures were taken of our illustrious out-going President Anthony Noel presenting a check for $100 towards the Scholarship Fund for the William Penn Association to the welcoming hands of Mr. Hegedu-s, the Director - flanked by our Branch Manager Mr. Szemes, Mr. G. Nagy, Field Manager, Mr. Zoltán Emri, Director and our Branch Secretary, Mr. D. Rosenfeld. These men also graciously bid farewell to Mr. Anthony Noel (who has since moved to Florida) and wished him much success and happiness in his new endeavors. Once settled, we know he wall continue to spread the Good Will of the William Penn Association which has been so much a vital part of his life! The highlight of the evening was a presentation made to a lovely lady, Mrs. Elizabeth Debrey, 289 James Heckler Rd., Harleysville, Pa., who proudly stood and acknowledged her enrollment into our William Penn Association. She was born the day the Association was organized on February 26th, 1886. It is with this kind of loyalty that an organization such as ours grows, and will continue to grow. It was with equal pride that this grandmother, Mrs. Debrey announced that her lovely granddaughter, Kathy, pictured with her, was that very night enrolled in our fraternal association. We bid her welcome, indeed, and amid the applause Mrs. Debrey radiated happiness. Throughout the evening it was a privilege to have shared some of these moments with her and her circle of family and friends. CHRISTMAS: As our picture indicates, the children of Branch 76 enjoyed our Christmas party on December 9th, 1972 at the Philadelphia Hungarian Hall. We wish to thank all those members who tried to make this annual Christmas party a happy one. As always there were goodies, carols and best of all a present from Santa - who with a twinkling of his eyes promised that if you were good, real good, he would see you again next year. ELECTION OF OFFICERS: On Dec. 9th, 1972 we held our annual Election of Officers for the Philadelphia Branch 76. With Mr. Peter Wlosak acting as our chairman - he does such a good job - the results were as follows: President: Mr. Joseph Kustra; Vice- President: Mr. Attila Balia; Recording Secretary: Mr. Daniel Rosenfeld; Treasurer: Mr. Joseph Karoly; Auditors: Mr. Peter Wlosak, Mr. David Morales and Mrs. Annabel Karoly; Entertainment Chairman: Mr. Philip Melnick; News Reporter: Mrs. Julie Melnick. Appointed by Home Office, Branch Manager of 76: Mr. Stephen Szemes. To the new people duly elected, we wish our sincerest welcome - for UPPERMOST, our aims and goals for our Br. 76 is to exist and keep alive the fraternalizm that so many of us grew up in. It is our duty to try to spread the good will, contact those who would be a benefit to our organization and help us grow into a more flourishing group here in Philadelphia. As we grow older, we realize NOW how important Insurance is, and to to our younger generation we must somehow instill these “necessary evils” so to speak, and this can be done through advertising our Insurance plans of William Penn. In our own Branch 76, we have new agents and our Branch Manager, who are more than willing to take time to explain Insurance plans - without obligation - to fill your particular needs. We are here to serve you - that is what Branch 76 is all about. Come to our meetings - which are held on the second Saturday night of the month at 8:00 P. M. at the Philadelphia Hungarian Club, 1125 Southhampton Rd., Phila., Pa. Please remember, for insurance needs, newspaper news, whatever, feel free to call me - Ivyridge 2-3300 and I will be happy to further direct your requests. We hope that everyone heard the lovely holiday greeting sent by the Home Office through the Philadelphia Hungarian Radio Program (WTEL - Saturday mornings at 9:30 A. M.) to all of our friends and members of the William Penn Insurance Association. What a thoughtful gesture and we thank you. We hope everyone had happy holidays - one family we know of for sure must have been ecstatic in that their son Jule J. Szabó arrived home safe and sound from Vietnam in these troubled times. To each and everyone from all of the Officers of Branch 76, a happy, healthy, 7
