19. Director Kertész submitted a ten­tative report to the Board of Directors pertaining to the recently conducted Bowl­ing Tournament and Scholarship Days held in Cleveland, Ohio. He expressed sincere thanks to the Board Members and members of the Official family who at­tended, and a special thanks to National President Elmer Charles and Gus G. Nagy, Field Manager (Central), who worked so diligently in making this affair a huge success. There were many favor­able comments from those who attended. Director Kertesz thanked the Branch Of­ficers of Branch 14 and Branch 45, the local Committees and especially Mrs. Mary Karnya who had done a remarkable job in making this affair one of the out­standing affairs ever conducted. President Charles thanked Director Ker­tesz, Gus G. Nagy and Director John Sabo for the fine effort they put forth in arranging such a successful bowling tournament and scholarship days banquet. He expressed his sincere thanks to all who had anything to do with this event and thanked those who attended same. In connection with Director Albert G. Kertesz’s report the Board adopted the following RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, the William Penn Associa­tion has recently concluded a most suc­cessful 30th National Bowling Tourna­ment and 1st Scholarship Dinner-Dance, and WHEREAS, the overwhelming success of this great fraternal activity was due to the time and talents so generously given by many, and WHEREAS, through their sincere ef­forts, planning and dedication this out­standing affair was truly successful, and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors wish to express for itself and the membership a sincere vote of thanks to those who were responsible for the success of these fra­ternal events, NOW. THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of Directors in regular meeting assembled this 19th day of June, that its thanks and appreciation be extended to: Mr. Albert G. Kertesz, Director and Tournament Administrator; Mr. Gus G. Nagy, Field Manager (Cen­tral) ; Mr. John Sabo, Director and Scholar­ship Foundation Coordinator; Mr. Ronald Karnya, Tournament Sec­retary ; To the Committees of Branch 14 and Branch 45, Cleveland, Ohio, who so graciously hosted this grand affair and to the Staff of the Statler-Hilton Hotel for making our stay in Cleveland pleasant. 20. National Secretary Albert J. Stelko­­vics read the Minutes of the Executive Committee Meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Associaton Scholarship Foun­dation held May 3, 1973. The Board ack­nowledged these Minutes. President Charles thanked Former President of Scholarship Foundation John Sabo for the fine efforts put forth during his term of office. 21. The Board ensued on a discussion of the 1974 Bowling Tournament site. President Charles read several letters of invitation from various Branches and dur­ing the Cleveland Tournament some of Br. 15 Officers had verbally indicated a willingness to host the 1974 Tournament. Director John P. Veszprémi extended an invitation to the Board requesting that the 1974 Tournament be held in Detroit, Mich. Director Veszprémi stated that the Branch­es in Detroit would deem it an honor to host this affair and he feels confident that the final results would be highly success­ful. After discussing the various invita­tions the Board unanimously accepted Director Veszpremi’s invitation and voted to hold the 1974 Bowling Tournament and Scholarship Days in Detroit, Michigan on May 25th and 26th. 22. The Board acknowledged the Report of General Counsel Gay B. Banes on the status of the Ohio Merger Commission’s hearings pertaining to the American Fund. 23. The Board acknowledged receipt of letter of thanks from Mayor and Mrs. Joseph Dudás, Lakeline Village, Ohio, for the fine recognition they received at the Bowling Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio. The Board also acknowledged receipt of letters of thanks and appreciation from the John Balia family, Mrs. John Bodak and the Carl Karnya family on their re­cent bereavement. The Board acknowledged receipt of let­ter of thanks and sincere appreciation from Mrs. Margaret Kovács, wife of form­er Director Dr. Andrew Kovács, upon pre­sentation to her of a portrait of her late husband by the Association. Mrs. Kovács stated she will always cherish this por­trait, and it will help remind her of Dr. Kovács’ many accomplishments for Wil­liam Penn. The Board further acknowledged receipt of letter of thanks from Rev. Bertalan Ne­­gyessy of the Free Magyar Reformed Church of Ontario, California. 24. Moved, seconded and the Board adopted the following resolution pertain­ing to a memorial plaque. RESOLUTION RESOLVED, that those who were Di­rectors, Officers or Auditing Committee Members at the time of the Verhovay- Rákóczi Merger and who have died either while in office or not, their names and titles be memorialized on a plaque to be located in the Board Room at the Home Office. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the name of any Officer, Director or Aud­iting Committee Member who dies while in office be added to the Memorial Plaque. 25. The Board of Directors authorized the Staff to prepare a resolution to honor Rt. Rev. Bishop Zoltán Beky, President of the Hungerian Reformed Federation, commemorating the 45th anniversary of his religious life to be presented at an appropriate occasion. The Board further authorized the Staff to prepare a resolution in honor of Louis Antal, President of District 5, United Mine Workers of America, which is to be presented to him at a banquet for his honor. The Staff is also authorized to purchase banquet tickets for this occa­sion. 26. President Charles thanked the Board for their serious interest at this meeting and especially for working late yesterday. He thanked the Board’s indulgence for the special attention and patience ex­tended on his lengthy and detailed expla­nation of our entire Field Operation. As he stated on Monday, being fathers of our Association, we must always be con­cerned with the best interest of our So­ciety. He feels we had an especially good meeting and if we continue to maintain this spirit of fellowship and trust, we can show a fine record of accomplishment for this Association. He thanked everyone for their patience, extended best wishes to our families and members and hoped we would have a fine vacation this sum­mer. 27. Chairman of the Board John P. Balia also thanked everyone present. He felt we had a very constructive meeting and it was only accomplished by the fine cooperation each Board member extended. He appealed to each and everyone to maintain confidence in our Association. He again expressed special thanks for the many wonderful expressions of sympathy in the loss of his mother.
