Minutes of the Board of Directors Quarterly Meeting SUSAN KOROSY HINES who contributed to the huge success of the gala doing. This was one great do­ing that will be remembered by all. Mayor Perk, of Cleveland, was indeed a great sight and pleasure to be held dancing the Hungarian Csardas! It was quite a thrill to this reporter, who had a picture taken with his honor! Hello to the nice bunch of girls from Johnstown, Pa., with whom we from Branch 189 bowled. See you next year girls. We from Branch 189, extend our con­gratulations to Gus Nagy, Field Manager Central, on his promotion to Brigadier General. Susan Korosy Hines, a member of Branch 189, was recepient of two honors for being an outstanding teacher. Mrs. Hines, a graduate of Mt. Union College received the Martha Holden Jen­nings award, at the Cleveland Sheraton Hotel. She also received an award given by the Alliance Jaycees for being an out­standing young educator. Mrs. Hines teaches first grade at St. Liberty school in Alliance, Ohio. She resides at 390 E. Col­lege with her two children, Debbie and David. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Korosy, Jr. Her grandfather John Korosy, Sr., was a former member of the Board of Directors of the William Penn. It is with profound sadness we have to report the death of Mr. Andrew Toth of Canton, Ohio and Mr. John Késig of Akron, also the mothers of Mrs. John Barany and Mrs. Frank Balog. Our deepest of sympathy to them and to their families. Good luck and success to Mr. and Mrs. John Michael new club manager of the William Penn Club. With the help of Branch Manager Michael Duruttya and Mrs. John Michael, a delicious spaghetti dinner was cooked for members of Wil­liam Penn here in Alliance, Board of Directors Mike Buzogány, Louis Francis, Excerpts of Minutes of the Second Quarterly Meeting of the Board of Di­rectors of the William Penn Association held June 18-20, 1973 in the Board Room of the Home Office in Pittsburgh, Pa. 1. National President Elmer Charles opened the meeting at 10:00 A.M. He welcomed the Board of Directors and Na­tional Officers to this second quarterly meeting of the year. He was quite happy because just one week ago he wasn’t sure whether or not he could participate in this meeting because of his health. He stated that he feels fine today and is prepared to proceed with the business of the Association. Yesterday we enjoyed the fellowship of Father’s Day. He alluded to the fact that besides being fathers of our families, we are also fathers of our Association and it is our responsibility to be good fathers of our Association and promote its best in­terest. Mr. Charles informed the Board that as previously agreed, there is no written report at this meeting. He has prepared an Agenda which is quite lengthy, but feels that with harmonious cooperation we can accomplish the work that has been laid out for the Board. President Charles stated we are sharing a deep loss with Chairman of the Board John P. Balia whose beloved mother passed away recently. He extended the deepest sympathies on behalf of every­one in the Association to the Balia family. Mrs. Balia became a member of the Ver­­hovay in 1922 and took an active part not only in our Society, but also in church work. The friendship that exists between the Balia family and the Charles family is indeed very close. The peace making Robert Hahlan and John Frances made very efficient waitresses and helpers in the kitchen! Also thanks to Kenneth Nile for his help. Mrs. Margaret Korosy of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Alliance, Ohio along with her daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Jackman of Upper Sadusky, and children, visited her brother Branch Manager Michael Duruttya and family and other relatives in Alliance. Marie Duruttya, Reporter ability of our Board Chairman is a char­acter trait handed down from his mother who also was a very capable leader, al­ways trying to promote the welfare of the various organizations to which she be­longed. President Charles also announced the death of Illustrious Member, Mr. John Bodak, Branch 16, Perth Amboy, N. J., President of former Branch 41, Carteret, New Jersey. Louis Ágoston, Branch 249, Dayton, Ohio, Founder and only Branch Manager of Branch 136, Middletown, Ohio. Moses Domokos, Illustrious Member, Branch 25, Beckley, W.Va. James Voss, husband of Columbus Di­strict Clerk, Irene Voss. He requested the Board of Directors and National Officers to stand for a mo­ment in silent prayer in their memory. Mr. Charles announced the following had been sick and hospitalized recently: Director John Sabo; Andrew R. Balogh, Field Manager (East) was hospitalized and is now recuperating at home; Mrs. Jolán Kelemen, Home Office employee. He also extended birthday greetings to the following who have celebrated or are about to celebrate birthdays: Albert J. Stelkovics, National Secretary; Elmer Charles, National President; Louis L. Varga, Vice President; Frank J. Radvany, Director. The National President extended con­gratulations to Vice President Louis L. Varga who was appointed a member of the Board of Association at the University of Bridgeport, 'and to Director Zoltán Emri who was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Mid-Jersey National Bank of Bor­­dentown, New Jersey. He also extended congratulations to Louis Antal, former President of Branch 296. Springdale, Pennsylvania who was elected President of District 5, United Mine Workers of America, with Head­quarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Charles expressed regret to Gen­eral Counsel Gay B. Banes upon his loss at the polls for the office of Common Pleas Court Judge in Allegheny County. 2. Chairman of the Board John P. Balia welcomed the Board Members and Na­tional Officers and is happy to see every­one in good health and fine spirits. He informed the Board that the Agenda was a full one, however he felt that with full cooperation the work can be eccomplished in our alloted time. Chairman Balia expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Board of Directors, Auditing Committee Members, National Officers, Home Office Employ­ees, Branches and membership at large 18
