Miss Joyce Frances Bero, daughter of Director and Mrs. Frank Bero of 315 Algonquin Road, Fairfield, Connecticut, Mrs. Gregory Stephen Vangor was married to Gregory Stephen Vangor on February 3, 1973, at 4 p. m. in a candlelight ceremony at United Church of Christ. The Rev. Stephen M. Bessemer and the Rev. Howard Nutting officiated. Mr. Vangor is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Vangor of 325 High Ridge Road, Fairfield, Connecticut. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a silk organza gown appliqued with venise lace. Miss Patricia Bero was her sister’s maid of honor. Miss Judith Bero, another sister, Mrs. Walter Bero, Miss Lynn Vangor, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Linda Pannoné, Miss Illona Kish and Miss Janet Schwartz were the other attendants. Mr. John Vangor was best man for his brother. Mr. Walter Bero and Mr. William Bero, brothers of the bride, Mr. Alex Bero, III, her cousin, Mr. Edward Kovács, cousin of the bridegroom, Mr. Patrick Crossin, Mr. John Hammond and Mr. Craig Smith ushered. Both are graduates of Andrew Warde High School. The bride attends the National Academy of Hairdressing. Mr. Vangor also attended Post Junior College, Norwalk Technical College and Bullard-Havens Technical School. He is Vice-president of Vangor Engineering in Newton, Connecticut. 8 Johnstown, Pa. Arrangements are progressing with much zeal and enthusiasm by the Branch Officers to make the Diamond Jubilee event on September 29th an outstanding and memorable event. It was on September 18th, 1898 when 19 Hungarian residents of this city met and organized Branch No. 8 of the then known Verhovay B. S. Society. The minutes of this meeting show receipts of $24.80, expenditures of $7.75 leaving a net of $17.05. The observance of the Diamond Jubilee will be in the traditional Hungarian style with a banquet comprised of home-made food and delicacies, followed by dancing to the tunes of outstanding Gypsy music. Steven Lengyel, Secretary 13 Trenton, N. J. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Alex Virok, Sr., of 165 Tremont Street, Trenton, N. J. on their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Virok, Sr., were honored at a celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary given by their sons, at McGuire Air Force Base in Fort Dix, New Jersey. The couple were married at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, officiated by Reverend Father John Szabó on February 4th, 1923 in Trenton, New Jersey. They have three sons, Alex, Joseph and Erni, and thirteen Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild. Mr. Virok is a retiree of C.F.I., formerly Roebling’s in Roebling, New Jersey, with 33 years service. Mr. Virok has been active in the Branch for a great many years, in many different capacities. In 1936 he received a Gold Pin in honor of his service with the Branch. In 1970 he was honored and awarded the Illustrious Citation and Lapel Emblem for meritorious service to the Branch and the Association, for 25 Year’s Service as an Officer in Branch 13. Branch 13 will enter two teams in the 30th National Bowling Tournament, to be held in Cleveland, Ohio. All of us at Branch 13 wish all our bowlers the best of luck. Arrangements are being made to hold the Annual Dinner Dance, which this year will be Branch 13 Scholarship Dinner Dance, to be held on November 3rd, 1973. The affair will be at the Hungarian Reformed Church Auditorium, Beatty and Grand Streets, Trenton, New Jersey. Will have more details on this affair in next issue of William Penn Life. Miss Margaret Kovach, Reporter 14 Cleveland, Ohio Congratulations to Judge Francis J. Talty on becoming a member of Branch 14, we are proud and honored to have Left to right: Gus G. Nagy, Judge Francis J. Talty and Mrs. Mary Karnya. him as one of our members. Judge Talty has had an excellent record on the bench since becoming a Common Pleas Court Judge in 1964. He has been on the Probate Court bench for 2 years and has talent and interest in this specialized field. He is energetic and is trying to apply new computer techniques to the court use, Talty is one of our most capable judges and we are all very proud of him. Welcome to our organization. We wish to congratulate our other new members, Kristyn Nagy, Dennis Nagy, Carolyn Molnár and Ernest Hudak, well known for his Hungarian Radio Hour, we hope they will attend our meetings and join in all our affairs. We had a wonderful turnout for our Christmas Party for the children and everyone enjoyed themselves with Santa Claus. Thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary for the food and refreshments and special thanks to John Sulin and his Cordovox. We welcomed the Mayor from Lakeline, Ohio, Joseph Dudás, his wife and daughter. Our congratulations to Joseph Toth who was honored at the January meeting with a plaque for his wonderful work and many years as an officer of Br. 14. Get well wishes to Pat Karnya, Malvina Jay and Sal Ferrette, who are now all home convalescing. Get well wishes to Andrew Dono recovering from an operation.
