Approximately 400 mem­bers and friends attended the banquet. Branch 14 has always played an im­portant role in the history of the Associa­tion, it has been an active Branch in fra­ternal work. The Officers at the present time are showing a dynamic leadership and Branch activity is on the upsurge. We feel certain Branch 14, under the able leadership of its Officers, will continue to fulfill its role as a leading fraternal in the Cleveland area. President William Kastan welcomed the assembled William Penners and extended greetings to all on behalf of the Branch Officers. The Star Spangled Banner and Magyar Himnusz were led by the Hungarian-Amer­­ican Dancers, accompanied by Tokay Or­chestra. Invocation was given by Rev. Gabor Brachna, Pastor, First Hungarian Lutheran Church. After a delicious meal, efficiently served, Mr. Kastan introduced Mr. Zoltán Gom­bos, editor-publisher of Szabadság and Amerikai-Magyar Népszava, as Toastmas­ter for the program. Mr. Gombos extended congratulations to the Branch Officers and members upon the occasion of this Anni­versary. The principal speaker was Mr. Elmer Charles, National President, who high lighted the history of Branch 14 and its contribution over the years to the growth of the Association. Councilman Robert D. Lavdis presented to the Branch a Resolution adopted by the City of Cleveland Council commemo­rating Branch 14 70th Anniversary. National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics spoke on the significance of this 70th Anniversary Banquet. The American-Hungarian Folk Dancers directed by Rita Karnya presented several wonderful authentic Hungarian folk danc es to. the delight of the audience. Director Dr. Andrew Kovács paid tri­bute to the 50 Year Members, both those present and those who could not be here. Plaques and pins in the name of the Board were presented. Mayor Dudás who was originally from Logan, West Virginia, and now member of Branch 14, had on display instruments from the Verhovay Brass Band of 1937 in Logan, West Virginia. Our congratulations and good wishes are extended to Branch 14 Officers, Com­mittees and Members for the excellent commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the Branch. 4
