Moved, seconded and adopted that the By-Law Committee review the Pro­posed Amendments to the By-Laws for further refinement so as to conform with the language of the N.A.I.C. Uniform Code for Fraternals, RESOLUTION 9. BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors in regular quarterly meeting assembled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this 24th day of August, 1971, that in re­cognition of his devoted services to the Association and to the members of Br. 1, Bridgeport, Conn., Mr. Albert V. Kocsis, former Supreme President of Rákóczi Aid Association, Fairfield, Conn., be awarded the Illustrious Citation together with the attendant lapel pin. 10. The Board of Directors acknow­ledged receipt of a letter from National Director Louis Vassy informing the Board of Directors that he does not aspire for another term on the Board. National President Charles thanked Director Vassy for the many, many years of faithful ser­vice he has rendered to the Verhovay and William Penn Fraternal Association. Director Vassy ha,s served under five Presidents. He requested Mr. Vassy, as he concludes his term of office, to keep us in his memories and may he enjoy good health for many more years and keep that fraternal spirit ever aglow within his heart. 11. Director Bero submitted a check to the William Penn Scholarship Foundation. Inc. from Branch 1. Bridgeport, Conn, in the amount of $50.00 in memory of Mrs. Barbara Somogyi, beloved Mother of National Treasurer, Julius E. Somogyi. 12. Field Manager-Central, Gus G. Nagy, read the final report of the Bowl­ing Tournament Administrators with reference to the recently held Bowling Tournament, including total receipts and disbursements. The Board of Directors thanked the Bowling Administrators and the Committees from the various Branches in the Greater Pittsburgh area who worked so diligently to make the affair such a tremendous success. Director Danko moved. Director Dr. Kovács seconded and the Board unanimously ac­cepted the report of the Bowiing Admini­strators and copy of financial statement is attached to these Minutes. 13. The Board of Directors acknow­ledged receipt of letters from Dr. Arnad Nagy (also known as Dr. Arnad DeNagy) requesting the Board of Directors that he be granted permission to appear per­sonally before the 27th National Con­vention. l'he Board devoted much time in discussing and deliberating this matter. Moved, seconded and adopted that the Board wholeheartedly approve and ratity the action taken by the National Presi­dent, in the Nagy matter and deny the request of Dr. Nagy to appear before the 27th National Convention. A Roll Call Vote was requested. Elmer Charles — Abstained; Stephen Lang — Yes; Frank Bero — Yes; Julius Macker —- Yes; Stephen Danko — Yes; Frank J. Radvany — Yes; Michael Hegedűs — Yes; Joseph Toma — Yes; Stephen Ivancso — Yes; Louis L. Varga — Yes; Rev. Andrew P. Jacobs — Yes; Louis Vassy — Yes; Dr. Andrew Kovács — Yes; Frank J. Wukovits — Yes. The vote was 13 in the affirmative and one abstention. The motion was adopted, and the request of Mr. Nagy thereby denied. 14. Discussion ensued with reference to the status of the Detroit District Office. Director Macker stated that Branch 18 was desirous of purchasing this property. Responding to this request, it was moved, seconded and the Board unanimously ap­proved to sell the District Office in Detroit, Michigan to Branch 18 for the unpaid balance of the mortgage as shown on the Association's records at the time transaction is closed. 15. The Board of Directors acknow­ledged receipt of letter of invitation from the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America to their 75th Anniversary cele­bration and the 50th Anniversary of the Bethlen Home. This affair will be held September 6, 1971 in Ligonier, Pa. Moved, seconded and the Board authorized that the three National Officers and Vice President Balia officially attend this celebration. 16. Moved, seconded and the Board unanimously adopted to invite Field Manager. Gus G. Nagy, Andrew R. Balogh, General Agent and Stephen Úsztok. Field Representative, to attend the 27th National Convention with the same compensation as a Convention mem­ber. however, they shall not have the right to vote. 17. In his closing remarks, National President. Elmer Charles, stated the time has come to express sincere thanks for the results of this meeting. Although every meeting is important, this meeting carried a greater burden because it had to nrepare its quadrennial report. President Charles stated he would like to see the Convention conclude its work by Thursday. It would be a great honor to the Board and a great relief to the delegates if this could be accomplished. He stated this could be done if we all show unity and address ourselves to the problems at hand. Once a decision has been rendered the majority should rule, and the minority should accept the de­cisions. He advocates the motto “love your fel­low man as 1 would love you” The Con­vention is not for creating confusion, but rather the purpose of the Convention is to formulate legislation which will be for the best interest of the Association. President Charles stated he prays and hopes that at the next Board Meeting we shall all meet again. 18. Vice President Varga addressed the Board and stated that we are at the end of our term of office. He has been a mem­ber of the Board of Directors since the merger, and feels that each Board that has been elected has been better and so far this has been the best Board yet. There is much more work to perform and hoped we shall continue to improve the caliber of the Board. 19. Chairman of the Board, John P. Balia, thanked each and every Board Member and National Officer for the fine cooperation during the past four years. He tried to perform the duties as Chair­man of the Board to the best of his ability. He stated if he may have slighted anyone it was without malice. This Administra­tion has made great strides forward and we still have much to accomplish. Chair­man Balia sincerely thanked Director Louis Vassy for the friendship and many years of faithful, dedicated service he has rendered the Association. He wished the Directors and National Officers a pleasant and safe journey to their homes and hoped to see everyone at the Con­vention. Respectfully submitted: John P. Balia. A small boy, attending dancing school, was instructed by his mother to say some­thing nice to each young lady as he es­corted her back to her seat. He danced unth a young girl and took her back to her seat without saying anything to her.
