Gomory. 9. Moved and seconded that further Roll Calls be dispensed with, and each District will report any absent delegate to the Convention Chairman. 10. National President Charles introduced Mr. Zoltán Gombos, Editor, Publisher of the Szabadság and Népszava, representing the Hungarian Daily Newspapers. He also introduces Mr. Eugene Szebedinsky, Editor and Publisher of the Magyarság, representing the Hungarian Weekly papers. 11. In memory of the deceased members of the William Penn Fraternal Association, a truly ecumenical memorial service is conducted by Rev. Andrew Pc Jacobs, Director, Pastor, Holy Cross, R0 Co Church, Detroit, Michigan and Rev. Imre Kovács, Pastor, United Church of Christ, Springdale, P ennsyl van ia8 A portion of the services was conducted in Hungarian as a tribute to the Founding Fathers of the Association and their descendants«. National President Charles also participated in the services. 12. Mr. Gay B. Banes, General Counsel, introduced the Honor­able Peter Flaherty, Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvan­ia. Mayor Flaherty extended to the members of the Convention the City's off icial welcome and expressed the hope that everyone would enjoy their stay in the renaissance city«, 1 3. It is moved, seconded and unanimously adopted by the Con­vention that the Roberts Rules of Order be used in the proceed­ings of the 27th National Convention. 14. President Charles announces that the Chair is now open for nominations for Convention Chairman. Reverend Andrew PD Jacobs, Director, places in nomination the name of Elmer Charles as Chairman of the 27th National Convention. Speeches in support are made by Mr. Frank Radvany, New Jersey District ft 1; Albert V. Kocsis, Connecticut District ft 1; Albert J„ Stelkovics, National Secretary; Mr. John Veszprémi, Auditing Committee; John Bokor, Sr., Pennsylvania District# 18. Mr.-J ohn J avor, Ohio D istr ict ft 1 2 places in nomination the name of Frank J. Wukovits, Sr- In support of the nomination, Mr. Stephen G. Danko, Michigan ft 1 speaks and also Director Stephen Ivancso who spoke in Hungarian. Having no further nominations the Chairman declares nomin­ations closed. Both Mr. Charles and Mr. Wukovits accept the nomin ati on. In accordance with the provisions of the By-Laws, the elec­tion is to be by secret ballot. John P«, Balia, Vice President now assumes the Chair. The following are appointed Tellers; John Me Carthy Julius Telegdy Albert Ibos Frank Ruskay Joseph Arvay John Pécsi The Tellers passed out the ballots after it had been estab­lished that there were 142 voting members present. John Me Carthy, Chairman of the Tellers announces that Mr. Charles re­ceived 86 votes and Mr. Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. 56 votes. Accord­ingly, Mr. Charles is declared to be the duly elected Chairman of thie 27th National Convention. Mr. Elmer Charles expresses his sincere thanks and appreciation for the confidence placed in him and he pledges to be fair and just as Chairman of the Convention. Mr. Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. thanks those who expressed desire in his favor for the Chairmanship. He pledges to cooperate in all re­spects with the Convention Chairman. 15. It is moved, seconded and adopted by the Convention that the ballots be destroyed by the Tellers. Mr. John McCarthy re­ports to the Convention that the ballots have been destroyed as ordered. 16.
