The Board accepted the Report of the General Counsel. 12 24. The Board acknowledged a letter from Branch 130, East Chicago, Ind., with reference to the Fraternal Fees for initiating new members. The Board au­thorized National Secretary Stelkovics to reply to this letter. 25. National President, Elmer Charles, congratulated the Bowling Tournament Administrators, Local Branch Commit­tees, Members and Bowlers on behalf of the Association, Board of Directors and National Officers for the overwhelming success of the 1970 Bowling Tournament and Fellowship Days held in Toledo, 0. Director Ivancso submitted a tentative report on the Bowling Tournament, how­ever, he informed the Board that there are still some outstanding invoices yet to be paid and stated that final accounting will be submitted at the September Board Meeting. 26. The Board adopted a motion to have inserted in the August issue of Wil­liam Penn Life a notice to the effect that the Board of Directors, at its September 1970 meeting will consider requests from any Branch or Branches which would like to host the 1972 National Bowling Tournament and Fellowship Days. Writ­ten requests from the Branch must be received at the Home Office before Sep­tember 8, 1970. 27. The Board approved a change in the Masthead of the William Penn Life, our Official Publication to depict the four seasons of the year. 28. The Board of Directors on behalf of the William Penn Fraternal Associa­tion wish to express their sincere appre­ciation and gratitude to the American Hungarian Studies Foundation for the presentation of the Theodore Von Kar­man Award Medallion and Citation for Philanthrophy which was presented to the William Penn Fraternal Association, and accepted by National President, El­mer Charles, at the George Washington Awards Dinner held in New York City. 29. The Board discussed the serious flood conditions which have ravaged cer­tain areas of Hungary and Transylvania. Several Branches have also discussed this matter and are ready to donate monies for the relief of the flood vic­tims, however, have not sent any money, to date, awaiting the Board’s action in this matter, to be certain that such dona­­tons are sent to the proper relief agen­cies. It is resolved by the Board to forward all donations received by the Association, for this purpose, via the International Red Cross and earmarked for use of Hun­garian flood victims only. Director Toma informed the Board that Branch 048 has donated $100.00 to this cause. Director Radvany states that Branch 013, Tren­ton ,N. J. is also contemplating a dona­tion to be sent through the Association. Director Danko informs the Board that 141 Ellwood City, Pa. Branch 018, Detroit, Mich., and the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 018, Detroit, Mich., has each donated $100.00 to the Hungarian Red Cross for flood relief. 30. The Board unanimously moved to donate $500.00 to the Hungarian flood victims through the International Red Cross. 31. It was moved, seconded and adopt­ed that the next Board Meeting be held September 14, 1970. 32. The Officers of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foun­dation held a meeting on June 10, 1970. The report and recommendations of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation, Inc., Officers were acknowledged by the Board. 33. National President, Elmer Charles, expressed his sincere thanks and appre­ciation to the Board Members and Na­tional Officers for their deliberation and cooperation during the meeting. He is of the opinion that the decisions ren­dered will benefit our Association. Mr. Charles stated that certain topics are controversial and are of deep concern to each of us, and by thorough discussion of these matters and through mutual un­derstanding, all problems can be resolved satisfactorily. We meet to constantly im­prove the growth and prosperity of the William Penn. He urged the Board to re­turn to their respective areas and to con­tinue to perform to the best of their ability, promoting the aims of the Asso­ciation. He extended greetings to the membership at large and bids each Di­­rctor a safe return home. 34. Board Chairman, John P. Balia, thanked the Board for their cooperation and believes the decisions brought forth at this meeting will reap dividends in the future. He wishes all a safe and pleasant journey home.
