The above are congratulated and have the good wishes of Branch Members, in guiding the Branch affairs through a most successful year. Immediately after the meeting, the Branch Christmas Party was held for the Juvenile Members. The party was well attended by children of all ages. Special thanks are in order to Mrs. Mary Dicken, who so capably provided the afternoon’s entertainment by members of the Mary Dicken Dance Studio. The program ended with a gigantic song fest of Christmas juvenile member Joseph Demeter. Also many thanks to the members, who Carols, accompanied by Branch 249 assisted in the proceedings of the party. Of course, Santa arrived with his bag of goodies for all the children in attendance, presenting each with toys and a sockful of candy. Refreshments were served. Thanks again to all those who helped make this annual festive affair successful. All members are invited to attend a Branch sponsored dinner, which will be held at the Holy Name cafeteria, on Sunday, January 26, 1969 at 12:00 noon. The menu is typically Hungarian. The Board of Directors meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Director Rev. Andrew P. Jacobs offered the invocation. 2. National President Elmer Charles welcomed the Board Members and National Officers and expressed the hope that the Members had reviewed his Report and formulated suggestions which would be beneficial to the Association. Looking to the national political scene, which now has been resolved, President Charles extends to the President-elect of the United States, Richard M. Nixon, his very best wishes for strength and foresight to unite the country. His fervent hope is that we too, shall, as in the past, be united to serve the interest of the Association. We enjoyed the blessings of Thanksgiving and are now looking forward to the Happy Holiday Season where love and goodwill toward our fellőwman should prevail. We too, should demonstrate and exercise this love and goodwill toward one another and do that which is best for each other. President Charles announced the names of our loved ones who passed away since our last meeting. On November 2, 1968, Mr. Joseph Vasas, retired Supreme Secretary of the former Rákóczi Aid Association, died in Orlando, Florida. So then, how about calling 1969, THE YEAR OF BUILDING, THE YEAR OF TRUST, THE YEAR OF JOY. In 1969, let the most devoted fraternal association, the WILLIAM PENN be of service in the implementation of your trust. Let us lay the foundation, not only of the WILLIAM PENN TOWER in Pittsburgh, Pa., but also of your broad-based protection, your investment program, your beautiful dignified Golden Years to come. May your Good God and your good sense make 1969 your most enjoyable and successful year ever. ELMER CHARLES National President paid tribute to Mr. Vasas for the fraternal spirit he represented during his lifetime. Message of condolence and floral tribute were sent to the family of John Bozsvay, who died November 5, 1968. Mr. Bozsvay was Supreme President of the former Verhovay Fraternal Association. Director Dr. Andrew Kovács attended the funeral representing the Association. Mrs. Elizabeth Frideczky, retired former employee of the Association, died in Mexico on September 20, 1968. Mr. Dezső Bojtos, former Branch Manager of Branch 22, Roebling, N. J. passed away on September 27, 1968. Messages of condolence were sent to the bereaved families. The Board Members and National Officers stood for a moment of silence in tribute to all the deceased members of the Association. President Charles informed the Board that National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics is ill and will not be present at the meeting. President Charles expressed the hope that this meeting be most pleasant and fruitful. 3. Board Chairman, John P. Balia, officially called the meeting to order. He welcomed the Board Members and National Officers. He extended cordial greetings to Dr. Andrew Kovács, who succeeded the late Aloysius C. Falussy. 4.
