JENŐ BARTAL and his famous Continental Orchestra will entertain our members and their guests at the "Victory Dance" from 8:45 to the early morning hours. THE TIME IS ALMOST HERE for our 26th Annual National Bowling Tournament and Fellowship Days in the world’s most famous ‘‘Fun City” — New York — on May 31st and June 1st, 1969. As we can all judge from the photograph on this page, our headquarters, the New New Yorker Hotel, is one of the largest in the City. Located centrally, for any type of exploration, from the tallest and largest buildings in the world, to famous Greenwich Village, to the lavish night clubs, to the Garment district and finally to the pinnacle of shopping, “Fifth Avenue.” The Committee has worked out the bowling schedules, the bus departures, the program for the two days and two nights, the cocktail party, the Victory Dance and all the information that will be necessary for everyone to have. All this will be placed into a packet with the cocktail party, and dance tickets. — If possible please inform us ahead of time of your cocktail party and dance ticket needs and will have them ready for you at the hotel with the welcoming committee. The first bus will leave the Hotel at 8:00 A.M. for the Bowling Lanes. The opening cermonies will start at 8:45 A.M. and at 9:00 A.M. our National President Mr. Elmer Charles will role the first “STRIKE”??? of the tournament. (Our secret agents have informed us that he has been practicing especially for this occasion. A member of the Board of Directors has heavy odds on this first strike.) Then our bowling members will start their competition. The Nation’s “Fun City” is ready and waiting for all of us. The famous Hotel New Yorker, with recently redecorated rooms, reserved 400 for our use. This hotel, our Headquarters, is located right in the middle of everything: the theatre, the movie and the world renowned garment district, across from the new Madison Square Garden, the Penn- Central Railroad Station. There are 3 large restaurants in the hotel and 4 others within 50-60 steps of the hotel. The Bowling Committee feels that if you could, and would like to, please take advantage of the reduced room costs the hotel management will extend to the William Penn bowlers and their guests, the same flat rate from May 25th to June 5. The rates are, for single: $10; double: $15; twin: $15; suite: (one bedroom with parlor) : $27. All bowlers will receive their schedules and paraphernalia as they arrive, from the reception committee, in the lobby of the hotel. Bowling will take place at the Bowlmore Recreation Arena at 110 University Place, an 8 minute ride from the Hotel New Yorker. Regular bus service will be provided by the committee, at no expense to the bowlers. Please pick up your timetable at the registration desk. Trophies will be provided for the team events and maybe, for the first time, for the number-one winners of the minor events also. — Score keepers will also be provided. The committee is working on a one hour cocktail party for everyone for Saturday afternoon in the hotel ballroom without charge. This will take place at 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. after the cocktail party everyone could enjoy their dinner either in the hotel’s 3 restaurants or in any one of the surrounding eating places.
