Bernadette Balia 18 Detroit, Michigan Dear Members—Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year from the Officers of Branch 18, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Branch 18 Sports Club. Our sincere wish for the coming year is that we shall all be further united in the bonds of fraternalism for which our great Association is noted. Mrs. Margaret Veszprémi, President of the Ladies Auxiliary is home again from the hospital after being confined there for more than five weeks and is recovering from her illness rapidly and her long absence from branch activities has been missed by everyone. On Sunday, November 30th the Ladies Auxiliary held their annual Ladies Christmas Dinner and Party at the Lincoln Park V.F.W. Hall and a crowd of 108 good members, bowlers, and guests turned out for this event. We were treated to an excellent dinner of roast beef, fried chicken, and good Hungarian pastries. After the dinner a social afternoon was held with the ladies playing cards, Bunco and other games. The men enjoyed themselves with playing cards of another nature and a good time was had by all. Mr. Gaspar Papp past chairman of the National Auditing Committee and Mrs. Papp were present along with Lou and Jolán Lucas whose friendly faces we have not seen in many months. Good to see you again. The newest member of our Branch’s official family is John Silagy who was recently appointed a member of the Branch Auditing Commitee to serve out the vacancy left by the death of our esteemed past branch president Mr. Stephen Lukacs. BOWLERS TAKE NOTE—Stephen P. Danko, nephew of Director Stephen Danko, bowled a high series of 607 and his teams total came to 2096, the highest team score ever bowled in our Mixed League. Looks like our Branch may come back with a trophy or two at the next tournament. (?) IMPORTANT REMINDER—For those members who are thinking of taking our group trip to Hungary next May, be sure and send your deposits in soon to Mrs. Julia Danko as other deposits are arriving fast and it appears that all seats on the plane for the trip will be filled shortly, so if you want to be part of the group, send that deposit in NOW. In closing, your Reporter would like to say that it has been a pleasure to serve all of you as Branch Treasurer and Secretary for the National Auditing Committee along with trying to report your Branch activities and I shall endeavor to serve you again for the coming year and thereafter for the best interest of our members and our Association.
