2 THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON April 11, 1979 Dear Mrs. Rona: I am happy to inform you that the President today appointed Dr. John Kémény, President of Dartmouth College, as chairman of the Commission on the Accident at Three Mile Island. Dr. Kemeny, a native of Budapest, Hungary, who came to the United States in 1940, will head the 12-person Commission which will re­port directly to the President. The President personally announced the appointment this afternoon, emphasizing the importance of the findings of the Commission and his confidence in Dr. Kemeny's leadership.
