2 THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON April 11, 1979 Dear Mrs. Rona: I am happy to inform you that the President today appointed Dr. John Kémény, President of Dartmouth College, as chairman of the Commission on the Accident at Three Mile Island. Dr. Kemeny, a native of Budapest, Hungary, who came to the United States in 1940, will head the 12-person Commission which will report directly to the President. The President personally announced the appointment this afternoon, emphasizing the importance of the findings of the Commission and his confidence in Dr. Kemeny's leadership.
