Schirok Kriston "Frequency analysis of storm rainfalls and estimation of the probable maximum precipitation" by Dr. J. PINTÉR. Mathematician, C. Sc. Extreme order statistics (the theory of minima or maxima of independent, identically distributed random variables) plays an important role in many natural phenomena and economic processes. As examples, occurence of various extremal hydrological and meteorological events can be mentioned. In this short note basic concepts and results of extreme order statistics are summarized. This makes possible to add some explanations and corrections to the content of the citcd paper. * * *
