150 Domokos Miklós and the participants were required to prepare as homework a time-consuming hydrological study. Lectures of considerable interest were delivered — unfortunately in an overcondensed form — also on subjects related to groundwater hydrology. Of the altogether 29 subjects offered at the course several of basic character, like mathematical statistics, meteorology, climatology, hydraulics of streams, further those related to hydroeconomics essential for a broader understanding ( Table III) are in the opinion of the author outstandingly successful. On the other hand, the omission of hydrological statistics, hydrological forecasting and flood routing from the curriculum is criticized, moreover the subjects offered on water quality and pollution control should be combined and oriented at the hydraulic- and water engineering aspects. The system of examinations and tests which the participants are required to pass is described, together with the experiences gained on the hydrological study compiled by groups of participants during the course. In the opinion of the author, the optimal type of closing paper at post-graduate courses in hydrology would be some combination of a Madrid-type study on a uniform subject and a Budapest-type closing paper on a facultative subject.
