24 VIII. SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE EXPROPRIATION PROCEDURE. By P. HEINCZ. (Pages 321—329.) • " 'M i ' •. The subject of this article refers to conditions special to this country, therefore it has not been summarised in foreign languages. XIII. TESTING CURRENT METERS IN THE HYDROTECHNICAL INSTITUTE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TOULOUSE. By Dr. W. LÁSZLÓ FFY. (Pages 330—339.) The Institute of Electrotechnics and Applied Mechanics in Toulouse University, directed by Prof. C. Camichel, has recently supplemented its hydraulic laboratory with a channel of great dimensions, serving for model experiments and for testing current meters. The channel is 115 metres long (photo 1), its profile is shown in figure 1. The writer describes the stucture of the carriage (photos 3—4), its driving mechanism with a hydraulic transmission on the ,,Hele-Shaw-Sat" system (figs. 2—3, photo 5), and the registering instruments (fig. 5, photo 6). XIV. A NEW HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEY OF THE TISZA RIVER. By GY. BERZSENYI. (Pages 340—343.) The Hydrographie Institute of the Royal Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture has published a work containing valuable data, under the title : „Situation Plan, Longitudinal and Cross Sections of the Tisza River". Th's publication comprises a situation plan on the scale of 1 : 25,000, two longitudinal sections — a general one on the scale of 1 : 500,000 and 1 : 100, and a detailed one on the scale of 1 : 100,000 and 1 : 200. These two longitudinal sections give exact information as to the down-flow conditions of the low, and the high waters to be expected at present as well as to the height of the flood protection levees, the width of flood areas, and the development of the river bed since the previous detailed hydrographie survey in 1890—92. There are 234 register profiles with characteristic water stages, which enable hydraulio computations to be made for any reach of the river. In addition, the
