completing several wells successfully. The majority of wells drilled successfully and most economically in the towns of the Great Plains and in other areas of the country demonstrate the skill of Béla Zsigmondy. The very fact that many of the wells drilled by Vilmos and Béla Zsigmondy almost hundred years ago without any guidance by official regulations and codes are still functioning perfectly, is an evidence of the care and circumspection devoted to their work. The economic and public-health importance of the artesian wells is difficult to overestimate. The memory of these pioneers is preserved in high esteem, since their work has left a lasting impression on the villages in the plains and laid the foundations of the present network of waterworks extracting and distributing wholesome water to a large proportion of the population.
