^weights based on mean values of weights from the collection or from any other museum specimens, and in the case of unidentified species, on weights of species of similar size. In addition to the species collected by trapping, a number of new record for the reserve have been found in the owl pellets. These include two widespread species of-bats (Taphozous mauritianus and Nycteris major

) and a Pipistrellus that could not be identified further due to its fragmentary remains. The most interesting records are the shrews. In addition to the species trapped, Crocidura flavescens

, C. poensis and several unidentified Crocidura were found in the pellets. The pellets from Futuk also contained Suncus infinitcsimus, which is only the second known record of this species for Nigeria, in fact for West Africa (HEIM DE BALSAC & MEESTER, 1971). Further work on the shrew remains in these pellets is required before all the details can be published. The rodent JJa^vinj^_jjicomtus was found in owl pellets, but has never been trapped in Yankari G.R.. Lemniscomys barbarus, which was trapped by HAPPOLD (1970) but not by me, was found in pellets from Wikki and Futuk, and Arvicanthis niloticus was found in pellets at Futuk and may well occur within the reserve.
