The list of species provides few data on the exact age of the sediment. As, however, all Pliocene localities found on Osztramos Hill are of the middle Pliocene, we have to infer that age, namely the "Postpannonian Pliocene". In the followings, I propose to discuss in detail the chiropteran species collected, as one of them is the most interesting find on its kind in recent years in Hungary. Some other species probably help us to place the site with other Pliocene localities. Besides, the remains of shrews, moles, dormice and mice, etc. are very fragmentary and made up mostly of some separate teeth, thus much less useful. Megaderma janossyi n. sp. Derivatio nominis. The species is dedicated Dr. D. JÁNOSSY in acknowledgement of his invaluable contribution to the knowledge of fossil vertebrates of Osztramos Hill and that of Hungary . Stratum typicum and locus typicus. Middle Pliocene ("Postpannonian Pliocene"), locality No. 10, Osztramos Hill at Tornaszentandrás, NE Hungary. Diagnosis. Size between M.vireti MEIN and M . mediterraneum SIGÉ, with wider talonid of Mi and probably shorter Mi than those of M . vireti . Holotype. Anterior half of a left ramus mandibulae (inventary No. V. 74. 57., deposited in the Palaeontological Department, Natural History Museum, Budapest) with some traces of a broken crown of C and with a broken Mi, the trigonid of this latter largely missing (Fig. 1 A, B, C). Measurements: Height of mandible under P4 3, 64 mm, the same below Mi 3, 56. Length of Mi (partly deduced measurement) 2, 64. Talonid width of Mi 1,40 mm.
