28. Otherwise, 18 males and 17 females were found in one cave at Tuong linh(34) (in the same cave where the majority of females of H .larvatus were obtained) between May 20 and 24. This ratio clearly shows a balanced equilibrum, though it was unique among the related species in Vietnam. I have to mention, however, that among juveniles collected at the same locality I found 4 males and 7 females. The sex ratio of the adults observed in Gwarighat(13) was 1:2 on March 29. Data show that - compared to other members of the genus in Vietnam, especially to H. larvatus - this species gave birth to its young much earlier than the others. In Co loa(37) one of the females had a fetus of 19. 5 mm. long on April 16. In Yen so(35) a female with probably one day old young was captured on April 19. This juvenile had 14.4 mm. forearm-length. In Xuan dinh (31) other juveniles were taken with forearms 15, 21, 26 mm. long on April 25, 27, and 28 respectively. In Tuong linh(34) 11 juveniles were caught with forearm-length between 19.8 and 33.4 mm. on May 20 and 24. Some of these were already flying on their own. Hipposideros armiger (HODGSON, 1835) In a semi-hibernating population both sexes ( 5 males and 6 females) were present in Lopchu(21) on October 22. Aselliscus stoliczkanus (DOBSON, 1871) Beside 8 females (partly pregnant or lactating) only 1 male was found in a population in Cue phuong(33) on May 8-10. Probably it was not yet mature sexually. Eight females obtained in Cue phuong(33) were etiher near term or with young on May 8 and 11. The embryos measured 17-21 mm. long in the right horn of uterus. The forearm of a new-born young measured 15.2 mm. Coelops frithi BLYTH, 1848 A small sample (3 adults) showed 2:1 ratio in Gia phu(28) on November 27. Molossidae Tadarida plicata (BUCHANAN, 1800) The only specimen I collected in Vietnam was a near term female with an embryo of 30 mm. long in the right horn of uterus. It was found in Yen so(35) on April 19. This again would show a quite different reproductive cycle from that described by BROSSÉT (1962/ b, d) for other molossids in India. This author - on the basis of birth time data in September and December - excluded the possibility of a delivery in springtime. Vespertilionidae My Otis süigorensis (HORSFIELD, 1855) In Cue phuong(33) I found a gravid female in near term condition on May 7. It had an embryo of 18 mm. total length in the right horn of uterus. In Ghum(20) a sexually active male was taken on October 8.
