Megadermatidae Megaderma spasma (LINNAEUS, 1758) All collected specimens were females in the Kanheri Caves(4) on July 9 and on August 27 too. They lived in small colonies and seemed to be sexually inactive. At the same locality the two females studied were not gravid or lactating on July 9. Megaderma lyra GEOFFROY, 1810 Out of 6 specimens of this species collected in Birsivpur(23) 3 females were gravid and were together with the 3 adult males on January 13, while in Barkalikapur(25) and in Ellora(12) the sex ratios for adult males and females were 2:1 (in both cases 6 specimens were studied) on May 7 and on August 10 respectively. Data mentioned show clearly that sexes do not segregate , they remain togerher even during gestation and parturition . The dissected females from Birsivpur(23) had 2-5 mm. long embryos on January 13. In Barkalikapur(25) the females carried their well-grown young. The latter still were unable to fly. The forearm-length of the collected juveniles were between 4 5.4-59.6 mm. on May 7. Rhinol ophidae Rhinolophus affinis HORSFIELD, 1823 The 4 specimens of this horseshoe bat showed 3:1 sex ratio in Moung son (29) on December 7. Rhinolophus rouxi TEMMINCK, 1835 This species is one of the most common horseshoe bats in India. I collected data on its sex ratio at different localities. 10 adult females - mostly gravid specimens - were netted along with 13 adult males in the Udaygiri Caves(17).on February 11. The sex ratio of males and females was 1.5:1 in Lohogad Fort(6) (10 specimens) on July 16, while 3:1 in a small cave at Mahableshwar(ll) (12 specimens) on August 9. Thus in this species, even during the season of reproduction males loutnumbered females and no segregation could be observed. In Udaygiri Caves(17) the females had 7. 5-12.5 mm. long fetuses on February 11 .These se data probably show that the species would have an earlier date of parturition in the eastern part of the oountrythan that observed by BROSSÉT 1962/b, c, in Western India . Rhinolophus sinicus ANDERSEN, 1905 Among the hibernating individuals I found 4:1 ratio in 5 specimens in Ta phinh(27) on November 21.
